We’ve reached that point of spring where some days it feels like spring and some days it feels like summer. My fix? Say yellow to kimonos! Finding fun and lightweight layers is key this time of year. I recently went to Gordmans and was able to pick up some new pieces that I’ll be able to wear now and later.

The kimono is a great way to complete an outfit. I’ve talked about the “3 piece rule” before and this is an easy way to add that third piece when in your basic tanks or tees and jeans. I completed the look here, but I also love kimonos because they can cover up mistakes likeeeee say when you’re getting ready and accidentally get foundation on your top.

As you can see, I’m wearing a basic tank from PinkBlush as well as casual jeans. To add some print, I pulled out the yellow floral kimono. Lately, I’ve been so drawn to yellow pieces; I love that marigold, mustard and other shades are getting their moment in the sun – pun intended. Yellow can definitely be an intimidating color to wear, but the key really is to find the right shade for your skintone. If you try on a yellow piece and hate it, try a different shade!

I was super surprised by the shoe selection at Gordmans; everything is priced extremely well and they carry many brands that you’ll recognize. These 1 State mules immediately caught my eye. I love a good block or stacked heel because of the added comfort. The cognac leather is beautiful and a great color that I know I’ll be able to wear into fall. Best of all, these shoes that retailed for $129.95 at Nordstrom, were just $17.99 at Gordmans. Anyone else LOVE shopping discount retailers?

Speaking of discount retailers: I snagged this Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick from TJMaxx for just $8 compared to the $20 it retails for. When looking through the lipsticks, I closely looked at the packaging to ensure that it hadn’t been opened or tampered with. {A few different colors had been opened so I left those.} This shade is definitely bright, bold, and a perfect summer lipstick shade.
