Vera Bradley Leighton Backpack & Tweed Skirt

August 29, 2016

Happy Monday! I was so excited to have a weekend off work and had big plans to catch up on sleep, but the only thing I really caught up on was Madam Secretary.  I’m not mad about it, to be completely honest.  We’re talking all about the return of the backpack today; I recently picked up the Vera Bradley Leighton Backpack and think it’ll be a great bag to have this fall.

Vera Bradley Leighton Backpack & Tweed Skirt | It’s Good to Be a Girl

I’ve teamed up with Vera Bradley and Style Watch Magazine to show why #ItsGoodToBeAGirl over on Instagram!  Why do you think #ItsGoodToBeAGirl? Share your answer here and Vera Bradley may post it.  During this shoot, it was good to be a girl rocking a skirt, sneakers and Starbucks in the crazy heat.  I absolutely love the laid-back feel that pairing sneakers with casual dresses, or even dressier items like this tweed skirt, gives to an outfit.

Vera Bradley Leighton Backpack & Tweed Skirt | Vera Bradley’s Leather Collection

This new leather backpack from the Sycamore line caught my eye when it first launched; I love that it’s not a school sized backpack but has enough room for me to load up all my daily essentials as well as any extra items I might need while out and about on the weekend.  It’s also perfect to travel with; I would have loved to have had this during my weekend trip last month to Cincinnati because the size makes it easy to go roam around in and be hands free.  The color is even more gorgeous in person; I also have this leather crossbody in the same shade.  Burgundy is once again going to be a big color for fall.

Vera Bradley Leighton Backpack & Tweed Skirt | All Tweed All The Time

I’ve had my eye on this skirt for a couple weeks now and finally decided to go for it while I was at work the other day.  The tweed has green, mustard yellow, black and champagne colored threads that I know will be perfect for me to wear through the fall and even into the holiday season — how perfect would this be with a long sleeved red blouse and black tights for a holiday party?  Since it’s still hot as all get out in Louisville, I paired my skirt up with a white tank and made the look more weekend casual by throwing on my denim vest and white canvas sneakers.  I’ve been wanting a pair of white Converse for a few months now, but worried about whether or not I’d wear them enough or if they’d get dirty really quick so I bought this super affordable pair from Target to test out.

This tank has a v neckline so I wore my gold spiked necklace as well as the short druzy necklace that you rarely see me without — on the blog or in real life.  I’ve been on a big ring kick lately and this silver stack from Charming Charlie is so pretty; the rings are all different and a couple have fun pave detail for some sparkle.  I love this ombre bracelet stack because it encompasses three of my favorite hues, blue, turquoise and white, and also has the gold tassel that groups the three bracelets together.
