I Got a Crush On…Velvet: Holiday Party Outfit

December 6, 2017

It’s the first Wednesday of the month, which means I’m teaming up with my How I Style It friends! For December’s blog hop, we’re all sharing holiday inspired looks. I pulled out this dress from Pink Blush; I’ve been having a MAJOR moment with all things velvet. Keep reading for more about this dress plus the must have bag for this holiday season.

I’ve been actively working this year to add a larger variety of color to my closet and to step away from the power colors I tend to always buy. {If it comes in navy, cobalt, or black, chances are I will order it.} I’ve definitely noticed that 2017 has been a year where I’ve found myself stepping outside the color box with hues like neon orange, reds, and even some green.

One thing I’ve always loved is a high neckline. I’ve never had the goods to pull off a plunging neckline {which admittedly makes me kind of sad,} but this kind of high neckline has always been my friend. Since it’s cooler out, I wore a blazer over the dress and you could also break out the tights.

I was all over the place when deciding what to wear with this outfit. I ended up grabbing my pink velvet crossbody and carrying it as a clutch! {See it in its full form here!} I like how the blush color ties in with the floral print of the velvet holiday party dress. While the blush isn’t available online, I did find this similar crossbody in red for $30! The style is similar where you can carry the bag as a crossbody, shoulder bag or clutch.

    I didn’t think I liked velvet, but you wear it so well! The northern states don’t take new trends well (; we just keep our flannels and jeans. Maybe I’ll sneak some velvet into my closet this season (;

    I’ve been a little wary of the velvet trend, but that bag is the perfect way to test it out!
