How to Look Put Together in a Trench Coat

November 14, 2018

When you think about fall closet staples what comes to mind?  For me, a trench coat is always on the list.  I’ve had a tan trench coat for a few years now that I get so much wear out of, but finally added this black one to my closet this year.

How to Look Put Together in a Trench Coat | Plaid Lined

The first thing that made me go “Oooooo” over this coat was the plaid, flannel lining.  I get cold super easily and so I like all of my jackets to be warm.  This trench coat from Lauren James comes in black as well as a khaki option making them both fall closet staples.  Since I already own a khaki, I went with the black and I’ve already worn it a ton!  It’s easy to throw on and I love that the plaid adds a touch of my personal style to a closet classic.  Don’t forget, you can save 15% on any purchase from the Lauren James website with promo code NICOLEG15.

Another recent addition to my closet is these Teva boots!  I’ve had a pair of black riding boots for a few years now that I hardly wear; they’re not the most comfortable anymore.  People talk about how comfortable Tevas are so I was curious to see what I thought of the boots.  This pair feature a fun scallop detail along the zipper.  The back is a stretchy material that makes them fit well to your calves.

How to Look Put Together in a Trench Coat | Accessorize It

It’s been chillier lately so I pulled on this black and white blanket scarf to create a print mix with my striped turtleneck and plaid lined jacket.  I tucked my turtleneck in and wore my Gucci inspired belt to elevate the look a bit more. Finally, I opted for a pair of burgundy statement earrings from Lisi Lerch; these are actually very lightweight and I love this hue for the holidays.
