Throwing Bows: Pastel Bow Tank Blouse for Fall

September 22, 2016

I’m a little salty this TGIT because Scandal should be premiering tonight but nooooooo Kerry Washington had to go have another baby.  I’m going to try to get through this emotional time but please be careful with me for the time being. I kid.

The top that I’m featuring today has the cutest bow detail, can be worn for work or play AND features the Pantone colors of the year: Serenity and Rose Quartz.

Double Gingham

March 11, 2016

Gingham is one of those classic patterns that I love! {Not enough to don a head to toe gingham suit a la J. Crew’s latest style guide….}

I’m constantly pulling out my gingham button down shirts as a go to piece when I don’t know what to wear.  So of course, it makes sense that with spring on the brain, I’m dreaming of gingham in more than just my normal neutral hues.

What Nicole Wore: Double Gingham
shop the post: blue gingham shirt {old, similar linked and also here and here | also seen here} + navy linen skirt c/o thredUP {also seen here} + pink wellies {under $40 | also seen here} + pink crossbody purse {also seen here} + fieldcrest watch c/o {on sale! use code 29BLOOM15 for 15% off and whatnicoleworeFS for free sizing | also seen here} + mint wrap bracelet {linked in blush} + ring c/o {sold out, similar on sale} + pink gingham umbrella {old, similar linked and here, this year’s vera bradley umbrellas} + nail polish + eyeshadow + eyeliner + lipstick
If you’re new to What Nicole Wore, welcome — I try to always share an ‘also seen here’ link for items that are not new to my closet. It’s an awesome ‘two birds, one stone’ move; I’m able to hold myself accountable as far as remixing items and getting my money’s worth out of my closet and it allows you, the reader, to see different ways I’ve styled an item if it’s something you’re not sure about. When I went looking for a link for my blue gingham shirt I knew I’d have quite a few bit, here’s a handful of different ways I’ve styled mine: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. If you don’t have one in your closet, you need one!

I love this time of year because of how many fun, bright accessories start coming out.  To go with my pink gingham umbrella, I pulled out my pink Kate Spade. I love this bag because the cross body strap is removable so you can also carry it as a clutch.

This skirt was another thredUP find; unfortunately this one will not lose the wrinkles. Seriously. I’ve tried steaming, I’ve tried ironing, and I may be reaching the super rare ‘take it to the dry cleaners’ level of desperation soon. If you have any tips or tricks for getting wrinkles out of linen-cotton blends, please leave a comment below or email me!

Rain boots are pretty much a necessity this time of year; while I love my Hunter boots, this pair is under $50 and come in a wide variety of colors.  These also have a wider calf, a complaint you’ll see from some ladies about the Hunter boots.

GlamourTine’s Day

February 12, 2016

Y’all, what a week! I started a new job, tried to get back onto EST {still not there #hatemyself}, forgot about the sorority meeting I was advising {#hatemyself part 2}, and froze my tail off taking these pictures. Being such a crazy week, actual blogging got a little left behind, but I’m super excited about some of the things coming soon to What Nicole Wore!

P.S. wanna stay in the loop? Go give my Facebook page a like! 🙂

What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day
shop the post: prada sunglasses c/o shop ditto {use code whatnicolewore to try a month of designer sunglass rentals for free!} + red plaid shirt {old, similar | also seen here} + j crew factory sequin tee {thrift find | also seen here} + black linen-cotton mini skirt c/o thredUP {on sale in different colors} + patterned tights + cognac riding boots {nordstrom rack find, similar on sale | also seen here} + michael kors watch + nail polish + foundation + blush {my very favorite!} + mascara + setting spray
I’ve wanted one of these skirts for forever; they’re super cute and go with a lot since they come in all kinds of solid colors, but every time I’d order one, the sizing would be way off and the skirt would look horrible on me.  I ordered this one {brand new with tags for just $11.99!} from ThredUP and figured if it didn’t work, I could send it back and use the credit towards something else, but sizing way down turned out to be the way to go. I love the elastic waist on these skirts and know I’ll get a ton of wear out of them.

ThredUP is an online consignment store that buys and sells gently used and brand new items. You can request a bag from them, fill it up with your no longer wanted items and send it in where they’ll evaluate each piece before giving you a total. Buying from them is super easy and something I had actually done before they reached out to me.  Want to try it out? Sign up here and you’ll get a $10 credit to start your shopping with, no strings attached!
What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day

I wanted to wear something super festive to kick off Valentine’s Day, so I grabbed my trusty sequin tee from J. Crew Factory, another awesome thrift find, and pulled it over my favorite red plaid button down.  What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day

I wanted to play around with texture and pattern so I paired my skirt with these grid print tights that I grabbed on super clearance from Old Navy {only 1.97} , my riding boots and my favorite watch. Lack of sleep led me to reach towards my statement sunglasses.

The bags under my eyes are never designer, but the good news is my sunglasses are! 😉 Have you heard of Shop Ditto? Think Netflix, just with designer eyewear. For $24 a month, you can swap out designer sunglasses as frequently as you wish from brands like Ray Ban, Dolce & Gabbana, Karen Walker, Dior, Prada and more. Ditto also has rental plans if you want to do prescription sunglasses or glasses too.

This is my first pair and I’m in love; you can try a free month with code WHATNICOLEWORE right now with the option to cancel at any time.  Now if I could just decide which pair to put next on my wish list.
What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day

I hope however you may celebrate Valentine’s Day, with family, friends or a significant other, that you know how loved you are (and indulge in sweet treats!)

What Nicole Wore: Dots & Spots
shop this post: old navy cardigan {old | also seen here} + gap embroidered polka dot shirt {thrift find | also seen here} + statement necklace {similar} + tarte blush + roz & ALI black jeans {similar}

While I love getting new clothes, my wallet loves when I try a new combination of pieces I already own. Last week, I decided to pull out this embroidered polka dot shirt from Gap and pair it with my white leopard print. I like that the pattern mixing is a little more subtle.

This weekend was a semi-productive one for me: I finally caught up on emails for the blog and the volunteer work I do with my sorority. Honestly, I’ve been pretty bad lately about letting these pile up so it was such a relief and anxiety reducer to get through it yesterday.  While giving back is 100% worth it and I really enjoy being involved in my sorority on the other side of things, sometimes it stresses me out.

I also watched the premiere of Quantico last night and I’m still not sure if I’m into it or not.

My statement necklaces have been taking a backseat to a lot of my daintier, shorter pieces and my long pendant necklaces, but I thought this black and white stunner really completed this outfit — especially with my sandals. See you back here on Wednesday for the end of month Instagram round up!

As Seen on Instagram: What I Wore

June 26, 2015

Happy Friday! Hope you had an awesome week. I feel like I spent a lot of mine looking over to do lists and thankfully crossing things off.

milly dress (on sale) via rent the runway, available for rentals + sunglasses {on sale} + kate spade clutch {similar} + tahari scallop flats {similar} + ashiana london necklace c/o rocksbox + watch {similar}

This was my first experience with Rent the Runway and I loved it! Next week, I’ll have a whole post dedicated to the company and my experience at their Chicago store, if you have any questions about it!

I picked this dress out for the wedding I attended last weekend — I loved the colors and picking out accessories was easy and fun. My clutch is actually my Kate crossbody minus the strap. This Ashiana London pendant got returned to Rocksbox this week but got quite a bit of wear; don’t forget you can sign up for the service and start with a free month when you use code whatnicoleworexoxo at checkout.

-I’ve been compensated by Rocksbox in the form of two free 3 month subscriptions. All opinions are my own.-
