Cable Knit + Polka Dots: 11.9.15

November 9, 2015

What Nicole Wore: Cable Knit & Polka Dots

Cable knit sweaters are one of the first clothing items I think of when I think about fall. The classic pattern is always in style and can be found everywhere come fall: in dresses, in turtlenecks, on tights, etc. This v-neck sweater is one of my favorite Marshall’s finds and is an item I end up coming back to each fall and winter.

What Nicole Wore: Cable Knit & Polka Dots
shop the post: target polka dot button down shirt {old, similar | also seen here} + ralph lauren cable knit sweater + gold pave link bracelet + roz and ALI blue jeans + lip color + highlighter + eyeshadow + blush + setting spray + eyebrow filler + mascara + nail polish

It’s the perfect sweater for layering over button downs and flannels and underneath puffer vests and the neckline allows for the collar to be a little more visible or even unbuttoned, as seen here.

What Nicole Wore: Cable Knit & Polka Dots

I went super simple when styling this a couple weeks ago and threw on the cable knit sweater over my navy and white polka dot button down with dark wash skinny jeans and leopard print loafers.

I opted against a ton of accessories and simply put on my J. Crew pavé link bracelet to add to the chunky texture vibes I had going on.What Nicole Wore: Cable Knit & Polka Dots

What Nicole Wore: Follor Your Arrow
francesca’s dress {old} + target denim vest {similar | last seen here} + old navy crossbody bag {old clearance find, similar | last seen here} + francesca’s watch {under $20 | last seen here} + aviators via five below {similar + splurge}

It’s the last day of August and it’s still 90 degrees here in Louisville. I’m actually kind of excited for these last couple weeks of getting to wear my summer favorites. I get the excitement for new clothes, fall and blanket scarves (just ordered this one after eyeing it SO hard + it’s a Zara dupe and under $15), but I’m 100% not trying to sweat anymore than I have to.

What Nicole Wore: Follow Your Arrow

Jewel tones are my jam; they always look so cheerful to me and are flattering on my coloring. A lot of people seem to think turquoise is a summer only color, but I love pieces that incorporate the color in a way that make it possible to wear it throughout the year. This striped tee {under $8} would look gorgeous paired under a puffer vest and with dark wash jeans.

What Nicole Wore: Follow Your Arrow

Turquoise accessories also have a huge place in my heart and closet. Lately, I’ve been loving my Kendra Scott Elisa necklace, this one in turquoise is super cute and perfect for layering necklaces. If you love the shorter length, the necklace is on sale in coral right now and under $40.

I love this long necklace that has a turquoise marble pendant, this scarf has a fun tribal print and then ombres at the ends into everyone’s favorite fall color this year: olive, and this multi-strand stretch bracelet would for sure fit my small wrist.

What summer color are you holding on to?

vera bradley umbrella {sold out in this print} + hm sunglasses + midnight girls tassel necklace via living social + target girls dress {similar in women’s size} + versona bracelet + target style wedges {old, similar on sale}

Let me start by saying that I hate flamingos when we’re talking about the tacky yard decoration. But the print is great. I’ve tried to refrain from buying all the flamingo things this summer because I can’t see myself wearing them past the season but this dress jumped out at me while I was at Target last week.

What Nicole Wore: Flamingo Bingo

While I was blessed with a booty, I’m not so blessed in the chest region. As I pulled on this dress from the girl’s section of Target, I once again realized my small chest is good for lots of reasons.

For those of you wondering about sizing, I’m 5’4 and wearing the large. The XL was closer to the knee and really the length I prefer but I could not stand the extra fabric under the armpits.

Are you loving flamingos this season? It seems like they just can’t be avoided. Currently crushing on: this phone case, this pretty tank (on sale) that would look fab tucked into a skirt or with skinny jeans, this gorgeous bikini set is calling to me even though I already have a flamingo bikini (oops), and don’t even get me started on how cute this one piece suit is (and currently on sale).

Happy Monday!

xo, Nicole

As Seen on Instagram: What I Wore

June 20, 2015

Eeeeek can’t believe June is almost over…This year is going by way too fast.

brooks brothers shirt {last seen here} + hm dress worn as skirt {sold out, similar | last seen here} + watch {similar, on sale}

This shirt was actually part of an old work uniform. At the time, I hated it mostly because of how often I had to wear it, but now it is a staple for sure. I have so many button ups (don’t ask, I won’t tell) that this one doesn’t get overworked but it is a go to. White always looks crisp, when properly cared for, and I love that this shirt makes my outfits look a little more professional. I feel like that last statement means I’m becoming an old woman…..

I lurveeeeeee my pineapple dress; it’s sold out now so I linked a similar option from Maison Jules, one of my fave brands carried at Macy’s.  While I love this dress, I admittedly am not crazy about how it looks as a dress – sounds weird right? I do love wearing it as a peplum or a skirt which is why I bought the dress option and not the top from H&M. Versatility, people!

As Seen on Instagram: What I Wore

June 5, 2015

I cannot believe it’s already June! I’m currently taking a long weekend in Chicago — I’m catching up with a good friend and heading to the IG meet up tomorrow (yay!). Be sure to follow along on IG if you’re not already: @whatnicolewore.

Let’s look back at this past week:

charming charlie bracelet {old, similar} + jcrew pavé link bracelet {similar} + watch via groupon {available here in green and gold}
This watch is one of several purchases I made over Memorial Day weekend <insert monkey covering eyes emoji>. I was doing SO well and then Sunday and Monday happened. I was scrolling through Groupon Goods looking for items that might be good side gifts for Father’s Day and all the summer birthdays I have coming up when I bought this. For myself.

It’s so witty though, how could I pass it up?!

ann taylor tank {thrifted, super old, love this sequined option} + roz & ali black jeans {last seen here} + nail polish
I’m pretty good about keeping my closet organized, but I’m horrible about taking clothes to the dry cleaners so I usually have a pile going for months that eventually ends up going and then I am shocked when it gets back because I forgot I had all these fun items. I’m also super cheap and typically don’t buy clothes that are dry clean only.

I grabbed this sweater tank from my local Clothes Mentor a couple years ago; they were having a sidewalk sale so this pretty, sequined and beaded tank was only $3. Sold! It’s been super muggy, hot and gross in Louisville since I got back from vacation and I’m allowed to wear sleeveless tops at my new job so I pulled this out and paired it with black jeans for a dressed up, casual look.

target kids leopard print shirt {old, similar | last seen here} + j crew factory chino shorts {retail version} + target style wedges {old, similar | last seen here} + statement necklace via eBay {similar | last seen here}
target kids leopard print shirt {old | last seen here} + j crew factory chino shorts {retail version} + target style wedges {old, similar | last seen here} + statement necklace via eBay {last seen here} + nail polish
Talk about stunting for the ‘gram. I took full advantage of a relaxing Sunday and stayed in my sorority tee until around 3 when I finally got dressed. I love pairing leopard print with bright color so I pulled out my chino shorts and a loud statement necklace. Easy peasy.

gap factory tee {similar, on sale | last seen here} + hm cardigan via thredUP {similar | last seen here} + hm chino pants {last seen here} + longchamp bag {thrifted | last seen here} + tassel necklace via livingsocial
I wanted to add some color to my outfit since it was so dreary outside. I like the amount of white in this striped tee from Gap Factory — I really like that it was less than $2. I grabbed my coral chino pants and played around with which cardigan to wear since it was a little chilly before settling on the royal blue.

I originally planned on going straight to the gym from work so I loaded up my Longchamp with all the little things I was carrying and my smaller purse.

francesca’s collection bracelet {not available online} + francesca’s collection druzy bracelet + michael kors watch
One of my favorite things to do is play with jewelry so I’m super glad I get to do that at work. I’m so in love with druzy pieces right now, it isn’t even funny. Currently on my wish list: this one that appeared in my Rocksbox awhile back and I talked myself out of keeping, this stunning ring, and this piece that’s on sale but I’ve been refraining from buying.

Jesus be some willpower (or a winning lottery ticket).

target style button down {old, this year’s version} + loren hope necklace c/o rocksbox + shop minted bracelet {sold out} + shop versona bracelet + nail polish
I love mail days, but I especially love Rocksbox mail days. I’m admittedly too curious and impatient to wait until the set gets to me, so I usually check my account and see what my stylist is sending my way. I’ve been over the moon obsessed with Loren Hope’s line lately but the price is a bit steep for me so I love that I can wish list them and keep them on loan as long as I want. My tiny wrists make my shy away from getting bracelets and my pierced ears closed up years ago but here are some of my favorite pieces by Loren. She really does such a great job of incorporating color into her pieces and I think so much bright goodness is what really draws me to the line.

I paired this box’s neutral colored necklace with my seahorse button down and gold and pink accessories.

old navy tank {old, similar} + hm palm print skirt {old, similar here and here} + charming charlie ring + kate spade new york bag via nordstrom rack {love this one} + nail polish
I could not for the life of me decide on an outfit. I really wanted to wear one of the skirts I got in the mail from J. Crew Factory but boo hoo, neither fit me in a way I liked. I eventually ended up digging out both of these items that I haven’t worn in forever. The skirt is a tulip cut that always ends up flying up on windy days and the top was so wrinkled, I wasn’t sure if my iron would even be able to save it. (Note to self: buy steamer.)

Luckily, my poor ironing skills got most of the wrinkles out and the weather was pretty calm so I didn’t flash anyone. #Winning

Hope y’all have had a great week. I’m off to eat more donuts for National Donut Day.

Xo, Nicole
