7•22•15: Adorn Apparel

scalloped tank and cut it out skirt in white c/o adorn apparel
scalloped tank {also available in yellow!} and cut it out skirt in white {also available in black and mint} c/o adorn apparel

Thinking about shopping before the internet really freaks me out. You mean, you could only shop at stores that were near you? You mean everyone in your town/city was wearing the same thing because you could only get clothes where you could drive or fly?

Hello, 2015 and thank you for increasing the strength of the internet. Online boutiques are one of the many ways I keep my wardrobe fresh and support small businesses.

A lot of people are already starting to talk about how summer is almost over, but I refuse to fall for their trap. Embrace the season, people!  Adorn Apparel most certainly has. The online boutique is based in Jacksonville, Florida and I love the summer vibes it’s added to my closet.

While browsing the Adorn Apparel site, I fell in major love with the fun detailing on the back of this tank. I especially love the yellow but it wasn’t still available in my size — someone please go snap it up, I have so many styling visions of it.

The scallop and open back combo screams summer and I can’t wait to pair it with some cut off shorts.

The skirt immediately spoke to me; I feel like I’ve fallen back in love with white this summer and I’m not mad about it. I’d been eyeing white skirts all season and kept being drawn to ones with fun details: eyelet, lace overlay, texture, etc. The fun sheer detail adds a unique touch to the summer closet staple. I also can’t say enough about the length. This is longer than I usual go for in skirts and I love how flowy and classic it looks.

One of the reasons, I was so drawn to this skirt was because I knew I’d be able to keep wearing it into the fall. I’m all about those pieces that can transition into a new season. So in case you were on the fence about whether this skirt is something you need or just something you want….

Yes, Francesca’s is already selling flannels (lots of cute ones including some with different patterned cuffs and collars) and yes I bought this one because the color combo is A+ and it was on sale.

What Nicole Wore: Zebra
beauty products: eyebrow gel + foundation + blush + highlighter + mascara + setting spray + lip color

I’m back from another weekend trip and already looking forward to being able to sleep in my own bed this weekend. As thrilled as I am, I’ve accepted I’ll probably be itching to go on a trip again or start planning a trip in the next few weeks.

zebra blouse {on sale!} + charming charlie mixed metal statement necklace {old, similar | last seen here} + nail polish + roz and ALI black jeans {sold out, similar | last seen here} + target style leopard print loafers {old, similar | last seen here}

I’ve talked about it a bit before, but the old retail job that I had was a business casual dress code. I used to try to avoid purchasing casual clothes, but now it seems I’m trying to stock up on them. I immediately loved the sleeves of this shirt and knew that I had to have it.

I bought this necklace and then my mom stole it before seeing it at another Charming Charlie’s and buying it for me. #Problems

Speaking of Charming Charlie, a lady asked me if I shopped there all the time this weekend and I had to shake my head no because we still don’t have one in Louisville. (Insert clapping emoji between each word)

I have a long list of stores and restaurants that I’d love to see make it to Derby City so I guess I’ll just keep hoping….

Hope you have a happy and productive Monday!

What Nicole Wore: Conference Stripes
hm striped dress {sold out, similar} + j crew inspired necklace via groopdealz {old, similar} + blue mirrored aviators via five below {similar} + clarks usa flats {old, love these sale Clarks!}

This week has been super crazy and hectic so I was so glad to sleep in a little bit yesterday and then hop outside for some quick snaps.  I’m headed to Athens, Georgia today for a conference and was convinced this dress would be making the journey until I remembered how complicated it is to put on.

What Nicole Wore: Conference Stripes

The exposed zipper on this is fun and a bit sassy but that plus the across the back strap make it a huge pain to put on. And just imagine the sheer terror of this zipper coming undone…

nail polish
nail polish + navy blazer {thrift find, similar}

I know I missed Thrift Thursday yesterday so my one thrifted item (a day late) is the very first blazer I ever bought. I love 3/4 sleeves on everything because I feel like that really makes clothing year round versatile.

Happy weekend, loves! Hope it’s filled with bottomless mimosa brunch, dog parks and good company 🙂

target kids denim vest {similar in ladies sizing} + hm maxi dress {old} + nail polish + starfish cuff via windsor store {similar, available in silver and gold} + michael kors watch {on sale!} + vera bradley purse

I’m not sure what’s going on with me this week, but I’ve been in such a funk. Personally, I’m betting on the gross weather and late night thunderstorms that have left me getting no sleep.  It’s midnight as I’m writing this so we’re going to have to keep things short and sweet today.

First off, this nail color. -insert applause emoji.- I actually took an unintentional break from painting my nails the past three weeks or so and planned on putting something fun and new on them. It didn’t happen. This polish feels like it might be my summer go to.
Guys, how cute is this starfish cuff?! I rediscovered it while organizing my jewelry the other day and knew I had to start wearing it 24/7 for the rest of the summer.

sunglasses via five below {similar}

Second time in less than a week that the jean vest is on the blog. I got a decent amount of wear out of this last summer, but it feels like this vest has really become a family member of my closet this time around. Few (style) things bug me as much as bra straps with spaghetti straps and the denim vest is the perfect way to conceal this.

Happy Wednesday!

target girl’s denim vest {similar in ladies sizing, on sale | last seen here} + she inside dress {on sale} + coral stone wedges via dsw {old}

Happy Friday! Summer seems like it’s flying by and I could not believe I hadn’t broken out this dress yet. It’s currently on sale and available in two color combos. If you know me you’re shocked because I didn’t pick the all blue version – baby steps.

tiffany and co bracelet + michael kors watch + charming charlie bracelet
tiffany and co bracelet {similar} + michael kors watch + charming charlie bracelet {similar, on sale}

My Tiffany’s bracelet is an old present from my dad that I rarely wear, mostly because I’m terrified of losing it. In all the craziness that is my costume jewelry collection, this piece is one that I treasure and hope to one day pass down to a daughter of my own.

on my face: eyebrows + highlighter + blush via nordstrom rack + lip color + mascara + foundation + moisturizer
on my face: eyebrows + highlighter + blush via nordstrom rack + lip color + mascara + foundation + moisturizer

That is the inside of my dress not my undies. Just to be clear. Ok. Let’s continue.

I love trying new beauty products but am also super cheap so I was pretty pumped when I got a Benefit trial kit as my gift with purchase last week. I haven’t gotten a chance to try out all the goodies inside (a cult favorite mascara + a friend’s favorite primer), but I am loving with the two new products I’m wearing in these photos.

I’m pretty basic in my day to day makeup. I stick to my tried and true routine: powder foundation that has SPF, stays on my skin and is lightweight, a brushed + sculpted brow, blush, a quick spray of setting spray and a coat of mascara. If I’m feeling fancy and have extra time, I might break out one of my two eye shadow palettes or add a little eye liner, but usually my makeup is kind of understated (and maybe boring.)

I’ve never used a highlighter before so I was relieved when Pinterest and YouTube informed me that this one is super easy to apply, just little dabs and then blend.

I rarely wear lipstick or gloss, or anything of that general nature, because they dry out my lips which is gross, duh. Vaseline at night is my old as dirt solution to keeping my lips hydrated and I’m always hesitant about putting anything new on them. But, since the sample was a lip tint instead of a stick or gloss I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try and I loved it! You can build as little or as much color as you want and I found my light application felt and looked very natural. This color is described as a “radiant orchid” and looks super bright in the tube so I wondered if I’d look like a clown, but found this was a color I’d probably purchase.

Also, the story behind what led Benefit to make lip tints is QUITE interesting (and a little NSFW.)

What Nicole Wore: Mini Dress Madness

Still debating on whether or not to keep this beautiful druzy pendant from Rocksbox — each month you get $10 in credit to use towards pieces you love and this may have to be one of them. If you want to try out my favorite (and only) subscription box, you can use code “whatnicoleworexoxo” at check out to get one month free of charge.

Anyways….I can’t decide if this necklace is calling my name or just whispering it. #JewelryHoarderProblems

Hope you have a great weekend with lots of fun plans! 🙂

PS. I’m in DC this week/weekend for some less than fun reasons so if I don’t immediately respond to your comment (or an email), please don’t take it personally and know that I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

Disclaimer: I’ve been compensated by Rocksbox in the form of two 3 month subscriptions; all opinions about the service are my own.
