How I Style It: Nautical Vibes

July 6, 2016

Welcome to this month’s installment of How I Style It! Each month I team up with four other bloggers and we each create an outfit around a new theme.  This month we’re all showing off a nautical look to celebrate being right in the middle of summer.

How I Style It: Nautical Vibes

Just going to warn you all now that this top is 100% addictive.  I’ve had it for a week and already worn it twice {friends and family, I swear I have clothes + do laundry!}.  I know that I’ll be wearing this a ton come college sports season as this shirt is perfect for cheering on my Cats in, but the classic blue and white stripes make it fun to style for summer.  The ruffle sleeves work in the bell sleeve trend, but weren’t overwhelming to me.  I have smaller wrists and don’t like the idea of swimming in fabric so having a short bell sleeve is the perfect compromise for me.  The hem is a ruffled peplum that is flattering, allows you to indulge in an extra helping of cake {no judgment here} and also is a great length — I’m constantly wearing my FitBit on my hip and while it’s super functional, it’s not the most fashionable accessory.  I love having shirts that are long enough to cover it up.  I’m wearing the XS in this top and it’s loose without being baggy or too oversized.

{Have you ordered your new Kate Spade planner yet?}

I pulled in lots of turquoise as it is one of my favorite accent colors for summer.  My new headband from matches my bracelet and necklace perfectly and even better gives to a wonderful cause.  For every headband purchased, Headbands of Hope donates another to a child with cancer.  Companies that give back always have a place in my heart {and my wallet.}

Americana: Star Spangled Dress

July 1, 2016

Happy happy Friday and hooray for a long weekend! You may have caught this dress over on my Instagram {or the LIKEtoKNOW.it account!}, but I’m actually styling it a little differently than I had originally planned.

What Nicole Wore: Star Spangled Dress
featured in this post: shein: star print chambray dress c/o + red bandana via hobby lobby + rebecca minkoff: envelope clutch {exact sold out} + jord wood watch c/o + tassel bracelet {similar} + lipstick + blush
What Nicole Wore: Star Spangled Dress

This dress can be worn off the shoulder, but I opted to wear it as a strapless dress since it was a little tight around my shoulders.  The star print screamed Fourth of July to me and I really wanted to pair it with my red bandana for a classic ‘All American Girl’ look.

I wanted to have several pops of red to really make this look patriotic so I wore one of my favorite red lipsticks; I love that this one has a very slight coral undertone that looks so vibrant and bold on me.  I also threw on one of my tassel bracelets from Francesca’s.  This one has bright tassels and wood beads that I felt would complement my Fieldcrest wood watch.

Let’s talk Friday Favorites; this week I’m wrapping up some of the hottest sales to take advantage of this holiday weekend…because I already have:

  • 50% off everything at LOFT with free shipping; LOFT rarely offers free shipping {normally you have to either order in store or spend $125 online to qualify} so this is the perfect opportunity to stock up on some great staple pieces for work or weekend as well as starting to pick up some transition pieces for when it {finally} starts to cool down.  I just snagged these adorable shorts and this knit top with fun flared sleeves that also is available in black and white.
  • J. Crew Factory is currently offering 50% off everything including sale!  Factory isn’t always the best quality; I’ve had issues with sweaters and knits pilling pretty quickly so I like to keep an eye out for sales like these.  This embellished sweater is so cute with the gold detailing on top of the stripes and I also love this cute summer graphic tee.
  • Banana Republic has 50% off sale items and 40% off summer staples.  Their sale dresses are FIRE.  I love the ruffled v neckline on this striped dress and their cardigans come in so many colors and are all under $50 right now!
  • I stopped by Francesca’s yesterday to check out some of their new jewelry; they are offering BOGO 50% off on clothes, jewelry and accessories.  Also, pretty sure I need this donut graphic tee in my life immediately.

Americana: Red Striped Shorts

June 29, 2016

Today’s Fourth of July look {did you catch Monday’s post?} is a more subtle take on incorporating America’s colors.  It is suddenly ‘wear minimal clothing’ hot in Kentucky and I’m having to seriously resist the urge to live in shorts and a top knot every single day.

What Nicole Wore: Red Striped Shorts
featured in this post: shein: baseball tee c/o + loft: red and white striped shorts + target style: sandals {old} + kendra scott: tassel necklace c/o + michael kors: watch {similar linked and here} + horse feathers gifts: ombre tassel bracelet set c/o + sunglasses + lipstick
What Nicole Wore: Red Striped Shorts

I wanted to tie in some blue with my jewelry so I pulled out my blue faced watch and my new bracelet set from Horse Feathers Gifts.  You can pick what size you want the bracelets and it comes with the gold tassel detail that I thought would match perfectly with my Kendra Scott necklace.  Also, can we talk about the sale Kendra’s having today?! All druzy pieces are 15% off with free shipping; if you’ve followed me for awhile, you probably know that I wear my druzy Elisa necklaces allllllll the stinkin time.  They’re my favorite necklace to layer with and have just the right amount of sparkle to be pretty without being too loud.

What Nicole Wore: Red Striped Shorts

I’m loving LOFT’s short selection this summer; this pair is a higher waist with fun button detailing where you’d typically have pockets.  The shorts are very nautical to me.  LOFT is running a huge Fourth of July 50% sale that started today.  I’m going to try and resist, but I’m sure I’ll end up buying a few pieces before the weekend’s over. Shop my picks here:

Printed Fringe Dress

June 22, 2016

Keeping things short and sweet today as I had a meltdown over Flash player not working on my computer last night only to realize this morning that it would probably reset itself if I just {duh} restarted my laptop. *eyeroll at myself*

What Nicole Wore: Printed Fringe Dress
featured in this post: shein: printed dress with double fringe hem c/o + kendra scott: benning necklace c/o + francesca’s: tassel bracelet set {sold out online, similar linked | francesca’s currently has a mix and match BOGO on clothes, jewelry and accessories!} + marble sunglasses {under $15} + forever 21: fringe wedges + leopard clutch {similar linked and here} + colourpop: matte liquid lipstick
What Nicole Wore: Printed Fringe Dress

The fun fringe on the bottom of this dress was my absolute favorite and the biggest reason that I ordered, but the fit was very meh.  I’m not big on sheath type dresses in general because they rarely fit right on my pear shape but this one was a big pass.  Stick straight shaped friends — order away! You’ll look fab in this asymmetrical print that will sit right and flatter your body shape.

What Nicole Wore: Printed Fringe Dress

I’m currently crushing super hard on my new Kendra Scott necklace; it’s all gold which has been my thing lately and the center features multiple cutouts of the Kendra logo connecting.  Super unique and the all gold makes it easy to mix and match with any and everything in your closet.  I’ve linked it here through Nordstrom for those of you that like to take advantage of free shipping and returns; Nordstrom I love you and your sales.

PS. Don’t forget that Kendra Scott is running a sale today only on shell items also with free shipping!  Just use code helloshell at checkout to get 15% off; my current shell crush is the Lawson cuff in crushed stone – swoon!

What Nicole Wore: Printed Fringe Dress

I can’t stop, won’t stop with fun prints for summer {or any time of the year for that matter}; this leopard clutch will probably be on heavy rotation for the rest of my life {or at least the rest of my twenties} and I feel so bad that I haven’t worn these fun marble print sunglasses as much as I probably should.  They’re a fun dupe for these marble print Quay frames and only a quarter of the price.  They also come with free two day shipping if you’re an Amazon Prime member!
