Double Hooded

February 17, 2016

Currently listening to: Travis Garland’s cover of Love Yourself from the latest Bieber album. Seriously swoon worthy!  What are some of your favorite cover artists?

What Nicole Wore: Double Hooded
shop the post: yellow beanie c/o modern and chic {also seen here} + striped sweatshirt c/o shein + blue skinny jeans + hunter boots {sized down to a 7} + stella and dot gold ring {also seen here} + nail polish + foundation + eyebrow filler + mascara + red lip {I filled in my lips with a nude liner to get a little extra staying power & keep the color from “running”} + blush
Serious confession time — I’ve been pretty much living in this sweatshirt since I got it last week. My friend Savannah actually called me out about it when we went out for drinks over the weekend which means that I’ve probably been overwearing it, oops.  I feel pretty sorry not sorry about the whole thing because it’s just SO easy to throw on. Example: when my friends called me to see if I wanted to grab drinks, I was definitely still wearing lazy clothes. I threw on this outfit (sans beanie) with my go to red lip (only $6) and went from looking like a bum to a put together person.

Aside from being super comfy, I love that I don’t look like a huge slob in it like I do in most of my favorite comfs. While I love being dressed up, if you came to my house I’m almost always in sweatpants/leggings and a sweatshirt so finding a sweatshirt that is socially acceptable to wear outside of my house, to work and out to dinner and drinks is a huge win for me. At $18 with free shipping, it’s a total steal. I sized up to a small and find the fit comfortable, but if you want to wear this over anything bulkier than a tank top, I’d suggest going up two sizes.

SheIn has some really great comfy but cute pieces out right now that I’m crushing on all for under $20:

The double hooded and zipper detailing is super cute, it does come with strings to tighten (or loosen) the hood, but keeping them even drives me crazy so I just pulled mine out.  It also looks super cute with leggings!

Pretty in Pink

February 1, 2016

I’ve told you guys before how much I hate winter; my opinion hasn’t changed, but I will say that snow is at least pretty.

It’s also hella cold, so yes this was the first snow of the season and yes I’m already one hundred percent over all things winter, below freezing, snow covered, etc.

What Nicole Wore: Pretty in Pink
shop the post: pink lapel coat with pockets c/o shein {on sale for $25!} + turquoise plaid shirt via francesca’s {similar | also seen here} + cable knit sweater {also seen here} + blue skinny jeans {over cold gear leggings} + boot socks c/o modern and chic boutique {also seen here} + hunter boots + foundation + highlighter + eyebrow filler + mascara + blush + eye shadow + bronzer + nail polish + liquid lipstick {in macbeth}

What Nicole Wore: Pretty in PinkWhile taking these pictures, I realized that I desperately need to pick up some Hunter socks since regular socks just aren’t warm enough with the snow.

What Nicole Wore: Pretty in PinkI thought this navy and teal flannel was perfect to go with my light pink coat with the small pink stripe that’s in the plaid. To stay warm, I pulled layered my favorite cable knit sweater over the plaid.

What Nicole Wore: Pretty in Pink I love the longer length and cape like collar of this coat from SheIn, the first thing that pulled me in about it was the gorgeous color. I’m not usually a huge pink person but love sporting brights and pastels during the cold, dark and dreary months.

Snug as a Bug

January 29, 2016

Hello from sunny California 🙂 These pictures were (obviously) not taken here, but a blog schedule is a blog schedule and y’all get more blizzard pics. Let me also preface this post by saying: there are not enough hours in the day lately. I’m writing this on Wednesday (I should be packing), wondering if I can just take a nap and pull an all nighter to be ready for my flight. LOL @ myself because I do this exact dance every single trip. Luckily, I have my handy dandy mix and match travel capsule from last week’s post, but I’m hoping I make it out West in one piece (and hopefully remember my toothbrush.)

What Nicole Wore: Snug as a Bug
shop the post: burgundy blanket scarf {on sale for $13! | last seen here} + gray marled sweater {sold out, similar | last seen here} + black skinny jeans {last seen here} + faux shearling jacket c/o SheIn {under $40} + riding boots via nordstrom rack {similar | last seen here} + ring c/o the peach box {sold out} + yellow beanie c/o modern and chic boutique + nail polish + eyebrow filler + foundation
Alright, so this time last week, I was not enjoying any kind of warm weather; I was watching Jonas (slowly) come down and dreading the inevitable shoveling. Somewhere in there, I decided to embrace the crazy and hopped outside to take some pictures.
What Nicole Wore: Snug as a Bug

This coat from SheIn is so warm, I was a little bummed when I first got it because it did shed quite a bit, but has gotten considerably better after the first two wears. No more lint rolling my pants after putting the coat on! The faux shearling immediately called out to me and I’ve loved wearing it during the chilly mornings.   What Nicole Wore: Snug as a Bug

I shared this beanie in mint earlier in the week, but I also love it in yellow! I’ve been very lucky to work with Modern and Chic over the past few months and can honestly say that I love their products. I bought two of their blanket scarves back in September and wear them all the time. Seriously. They are constantly on repeat for me. On top of having great products, the ladies behind this boutique are so kind and thoughtful.

Hope you had a great weekend and have some fun weekend plans lined up!

Criss Crossed Cardigan

December 30, 2015

While trying to think of a title for this post, I kept singing this haha.  This one size fits all cardigan from SheIn caught my eye with the white and gray colorblock underneath the diamond pattern.

What Nicole Wore: Criss Crossed Cardigan
in this post: gray cardigan c/o shein {also seen here} + black tank {old, similar | also seen here} + blue skinny jeans + silver druzy necklace + wood watch c/o jord wood watches {also seen here} + cream and black flats {also seen here} + nail polish + eyebrow filler + blush + highlighter + bronzer + foundation + lip tint {from this holiday set} + eye shadow + mascara

I really let it be the statement piece of this outfit by wearing it over a solid black popover tank {so, so versatile, I wish I’d bought this in more colors} and blue skinny jeans. The cardigan is very fuzzy, as you can see, and hits at mid thigh. It’s a little larger than I usually take my cardigans due to the one size, but super cozy. It fits more like a coatigan for me.

What Nicole Wore: Criss Crossed Cardigan

One of the things that I love about SheIn is that they provide trendy pieces at very affordable prices.

Shop my favorite new arrivals from SheIn:

What Nicole Wore: Criss Crossed Cardigan

This wine lip tint is a little darker than I wear day to day, but I really like how bold it looks and how smoothly it applies. Because of all the vitamins it’s loaded with, I don’t have to apply it over a balm like many lip products with this much pigment. The color payout is awesome, you don’t need to layer up to build this amount of color.
What Nicole Wore: Criss Crossed Cardigan

Building on to all the neutrals in this outfit, I pulled out my Fieldcrest watch; I love the way the light wood looks next to the white – so crisp. My other bold color comes from my nails, this is one of my favorite OPI shades.  What Nicole Wore: Criss Crossed Cardigan

The neckline on this shirt can make it difficult to find a necklace that pairs well, but my Kendra Scott druzy necklace always is up for a challenge. It’s the perfect length for this neckline and adds just the right amount of sparkle.

Christmas Plaid

December 24, 2015

Merry Christmas Eve!  You may remember this skirt from a post a couple week’s ago. I picked out the red plaid skirt because of how perfect it is for the holidays so it seemed like the perfect skirt for getting dressed up for Christmas Eve. We’d usually be heading out to dinner tonight, but had some family decide to join us at the last minute so we’re staying in and making egg rolls tonight. I love getting dressed up with my family, but am excited to hang out in jeans tonight.

What Nicole Wore: Christmas Plaid
in this post: green coat {similar | also seen here} + embellished white tank {similar, on sale! | also seen here} + red plaid skirt c/o shein {also seen here} + black lace up flats {similar, on sale} + nail polish + ring + earrings {old, similar} + foundation {applied with this brush} + eye shadow {over this eye primer} + eyebrows + highlighter + bronzer {blended with this – dampen for best result} + mascara primer + mascara + eyeliner + undereye brightener + lip liner + lip crayon

I’ve been embracing lip color lately and felt like quite the risk taker when I ordered this set.  I really like the color and it tastes really good too. The stick is super pigmented and the color applies easily. Experimenting with makeup has been my free time hobby the past couple weeks and I finally caved last week and ordered a blender. Guys, no one was lying or exaggerating – it’s a game changer for your makeup bag! My number one ‘getting ready’ song recently has been December off Ariana Grande’s Christmas and Chill EP. Definitely my new favorite Christmas jams.
What Nicole Wore: Christmas Plaid

I love a bold coat and this green one is perfect for the season. I knew I wanted to pair it with this skirt with the subtle green stripe running through the plaid. It’s been super warm here (think 70 degrees) so a coat isn’t completely necessary but good to have on hand if the weather decides to get wonkier. What Nicole Wore: Christmas Plaid

I snagged these lace up flats a couple weeks ago when Old Navy restocked online, unfortunately they’ve already sold out again, but this pair is pretty similar and is on sale right now for $20.
What Nicole Wore: Christmas Plaid

Fit and flare skirts are 100% a “safe” option for me; I adore the ladylike silhouette and being pear shaped, I really love that they emphasize my waist and float over, instead of hug, my thighs. I’m wearing a medium in this skirt and find the fit and length to be just right. Be sure to check the measurements on the size guide if you are considering buying anything from this online store.

I won’t be posting tomorrow due to it being Christmas, but wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! I’m very lucky to be able to count this blog as one of my many blessings this year.
