Where Nicole Went: 7 Items, 9 Outfits

January 20, 2016

It’s Wednesday, it’s snowing and the roads are bad here so let’s talk about something a bit more exciting, like me going to warm{er} weather next week!

I try to travel with just a carry on and “purse” when possible to give myself room to bring things back, pack gifts at times, and have extra room for medicine, beauty products, chargers, etc. I’ve been on quite a few trips in the past year and have come home every single time with more than I left with.

I always get very excited (and a little worked up) for a trip, so I’ve found it super useful to use packing lists to ensure I don’t forget any essentials and can look everything over leading up to my trip. I love this one from Jenny over at Traveling Chic! She has two different, printable packing lists that are available for free download, but if these aren’t up your alley there are hundreds upon hundreds of options to find through Pinterest.

What Nicole Wore: Dots & Spots
shop this post: old navy cardigan {old | also seen here} + gap embroidered polka dot shirt {thrift find | also seen here} + statement necklace {similar} + tarte blush + roz & ALI black jeans {similar}

While I love getting new clothes, my wallet loves when I try a new combination of pieces I already own. Last week, I decided to pull out this embroidered polka dot shirt from Gap and pair it with my white leopard print. I like that the pattern mixing is a little more subtle.

This weekend was a semi-productive one for me: I finally caught up on emails for the blog and the volunteer work I do with my sorority. Honestly, I’ve been pretty bad lately about letting these pile up so it was such a relief and anxiety reducer to get through it yesterday.  While giving back is 100% worth it and I really enjoy being involved in my sorority on the other side of things, sometimes it stresses me out.

I also watched the premiere of Quantico last night and I’m still not sure if I’m into it or not.

My statement necklaces have been taking a backseat to a lot of my daintier, shorter pieces and my long pendant necklaces, but I thought this black and white stunner really completed this outfit — especially with my sandals. See you back here on Wednesday for the end of month Instagram round up!

What Nicole Wore: Olive You
old navy shirt + new york and company pants {old | last seen here} + triangle pendant necklace {under $1.50, ships free} + nail polish + sunglasses via five below {similar + splurge}

I love the thick material of this shirt for the cooler mornings we’ve been having lately. Olive is one of the colors that’s huge for this fall and this twill button down seemed like a good staple to add into my closet since we all know that I love button downs. I took the rule breaker route and paired it with my white polka dot cropped pants.  What Nicole Wore: Olive YouI have a decent size nail polish collection but this shade is one of my favorites for fall and is so complementary on different skin tones. I love that it has creme polish qualities with just a touch of small gold flecks.

I love all the pendant necklaces that have been popping up and this gold triangle was calling to me, especially at a price point that’s less than my typical Starbucks order. These necklaces are great for layering as well which has been my jam.

What Nicole Wore: Olive You
old navy purse {old, similar here and here | last seen here}

This purse is one of my favorites and a size and style I highly recommend. The bag is big enough for keys, a mini wallet, lip gloss and a few other essentials and of course has the super ideal cross body strap.  I end up using this purse weekly when I run out to the grocery store or to dinner with a friend. It’s also been to Europe with me and was perfect for tourist activities. It easily fit my Canon, sunglasses and any passes I needed to hang on to.

What Nicole Wore: Check Her Out
old navy gingham shirt {old, similar} + francesca’s laser cut skirt {sold out, similar length lace option | last seen here} + old navy crossbody {old, similar | last seen here} + julep nail polish

Ahhh how is it already September?!  You all know I love gingham more than the average human being and am always wearing my blue and black button downs. For whatever reason, I tend to reach for this one a lot less so I thought it would be perfect for today.

I just bought a gingham dress, finally! (similar) and I’m sure it’ll make a blog appearance sooner than later.
What Nicole Wore: Check Her Out

I love jewelry, but lately I can’t be bothered to put any on — especially with this late heat wave. They feel like an unnecessary layer, but if I were to wear this look in a couple weeks, once it cools down, I’d go with I’d probably wear my shorter marble necklace and a long gold pendant necklace.

Emily was sweet enough to send me this polish after I ohhh-ed and awww’ed after she posted a picture wearing it on Instagram and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it this week.

What Nicole Wore: Gridlocked
old navy polka dot blouse {old, similar} + francesca’s collection grid print skirt {similar | last seen here} + stella and dot ring + opi nail polish

My friend Heather is hosting a Stella and Dot shopping party and all of her proceeds are going to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Breast cancer research is near and dear to me after losing my grandmother at 3 after her breast cancer resurfaced and spread to her liver and brain. I’d love it if you’d shop her trunk show here, it runs until September 19.

This ring immediately caught my eye and I love that the ring is adjustable and has multiple “rings” without being heavy.

What Nicole Wore: Gridlocked
bare minerals ready foundation + tarte blush {in shade, tipsy} + eyebrow filler + eye shadow {wearing ‘sidecar’} + benefit mascara

I just bought this blush last week and am loving it so far. I’ve been addicted to my NARS blush for over a year now, but the Tarte blush is very pigmented and requires very little to get a strong payout.

What Nicole Wore: Gridlocked
h&m sunglasses {sold out, similar} + shop versona cuff {clearance find} + suede booties via payless shoes {old, similar}
