4 Journal Prompts on Tough Mental Health Days

March 1, 2021

There’s no time like the present for a mental health check in. The past year has been undeniably challenging for all of us. Knowing that I wanted to share four of the journal prompts I tend to use when my mental health isn’t at its best. Journaling has really helped me to track my own moods and better understand some of my own triggers.

“Don’t Be Nervous!” Unpacking Life with Anxiety & Depression

February 27, 2020

This is my third time writing this blog post, but I’m choosing to believe that this third time has to be the charm.  Life with anxiety and depression is frustrating mostly because it gets summed up as nervous and sad.  In my experience, there’s {unfortunately} a lot more to it.

Last month, I got asked to review a self-guided therapy app and jumped at the chance.  However, coming to the end of the month and getting ready to share my thoughts with followers has been intimidating.  Lately I’ve felt unwell and struggled to do the smallest of tasks.  However, I’m glad for the purpose of being able to give an honest review.

Lifestyle blogger talks about life with anxiety and depression, what they look like beyond being nervous and sad, plus a therapy app review. // cognitive behavior therapy, mental health stigma, mental health app, self care app, depression, anxiety

How Deactivating Facebook for Three Years Helped Me Grow

October 21, 2019

Happy Monday!  Hopping into a new week with what may qualify as the easiest fall outfit ever as well as some real talk on social media detoxes.  While it may seem somewhat ironic to talk about social media breaks when I spend SO much time on social media these days, I wanted to talk about signs its time for one.  Deactivating Facebook was something I did for a little over three years and really allowed me to prioritize.

5 Crazy Things & the Stigma Around Mental Health

May 17, 2018

Today’s post is definitely on the more personal side; you may or may not know, but May is Mental Health Awareness month. Even though it’s been five years since my initial anxiety and depression diagnoses admitting I struggle with my mental health, especially in such a public forum, is still extremely nerve racking for me. And maybe that’s part of why I feel writing this post is so important. While most people are incredibly understanding when it comes to anxiety, depression is considered a more hush hush conversation. The stigma around depression is very extreme; when I’m open about having depression, I can tell that people are taken aback and often uncomfortable.

I get it; while I have chronic anxiety and have struggled with anxiety since I was a child, depression was the disease that kind of snuck up on me. Prior to being diagnosed, I didn’t know a ton about it and definitely didn’t understand what it meant when I heard of someone suffering from it. Today I wanted to talk about why conversations around mental health are still so important and five “crazy” things I’ve done because of or for my mental health.

March Madness & Magazines: Life Lately & Monday Musings

March 12, 2018

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks both professionally and personally. I’ve tried a couple times now to sit down and write about real life for Friday Favorites and admittedly kept putting it off. Honestly, I didn’t feel like I had a grasp on my feelings and I haaaaate putting pen to paper, metaphorically speaking, before I’ve fully grasped on everything. Keep reading today’s Monday Musings for more behind the scenes and some personal talk.

March Madness & Magazines: Life Lately & Monday Musings | Wakeup and Makeup

I’ve gotten a TON of new makeup in the past month or so and in an effort to prepare for a big beauty post, I’ve been digging through old favorites and working my way through a ton of new products. I’m due to write a “new beauty” type post to review some new items, but I’ve been thinking about writing a post about destashing and some of the products I haven’t loved. What do y’all think?
