Lace Wrap

May 11, 2016

I finally managed to shoot pictures during golden hour and while I wish I could claim that I worked hard and ad a strategy around it….I just happened to get home and take these pictures at the right time for the perfect lighting. It wasn’t until I started editing a couple days later that I realized how incredible they turned out.  You could say I’m now a believer in the golden hour, but you won’t catch me waking up early to catch the sun rising any time soon.

What Nicole Wore: Lace Wrap

I’ve been loving this new watch from Fossil; the tan leather strap can actually be changed out which is really cool and gives you a little more versatility.  I love that the watch features windows that tell you the day of the week and month, none of the other watches I currently own have these features.  Overall, it’s a really timeless piece {pun intended} that can be paired with all the items in my wardrobe.  This watch can also be engraved, which would be perfect for any graduates you may have in your life.  I’m a firm believer that watches are a classic, must have accessory; I know lots of people feel like phones have replaced them, but I’m always looking at my wrist for the time over my iPhone.

Francesca’s was kind enough to send me this lace wrap a couple months ago and I have to admit, I was pretty confused about how to style it.  Is it a beach coverup? Is it a poncho?  I wanted to wear this tank but still be a little more covered so I pulled it out and wore it as a wrap; I really like the lace detail especially how it contrasts with my distressed jeans.  Mixing textures is one of my favorite ways to create juxtaposition in an outfit.  This wrap is easy to throw on and didn’t snag easily — a major plus in my book.

These Elizabeth and James shades weren’t my favorite which is part of what I love about the DITTO program; I was able to try them out for a few days and then emailed my stylist and let her know that I was ready to send them back and try something new.  Don’t forget that you can sign up for the optical or sunglass monthly subscription and swap out designer frames as frequently as you wish.  My code {whatnicolewore} lets you try your first month free of charge — you can cancel at any point!

Hot Pink Puffer Vest

November 23, 2015

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend; mine was split between work and shopping. I did manage to pick up some great Christmas gifts and even a few stocking stuffers #holler. I’ve also kept busy working on new content for the next month or so and of course some fun stuff for this weekend. Any requests or things you want to see for Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Let me know in a comment or shoot me an email!

I’m writing this post as I watch the AMAs so it may be a bit short.

I headed to Gap Factory on Friday after receiving an email from them about offering 50-70% off everything plus an additional 15% off coupon. I snagged a large bag full of items including this pretty vest for just $17!

I’m normally more of a quilted vest kind of girl, but I decided to try this one out when I saw how great the price was. This plaid flannel has a pink stripe throughout it so it was the first item I thought to layer under the hot pink puffer vest.  What Nicole Wore: Hot Pink Puffer Vest

The pockets of this vest are fleece lined which was so handy (pun intended) while I was taking these pictures. Louisville has more than cooled off and I quickly took these photos since it was in the 30s. I can;t complain though — I’m so grateful that it hasn’t snowed.

All Lined Up: 11.18.15

What Nicole Wore: All Lined Up

I was forced to cut back on Starbucks following the Lost Gold Card Saga of 2015, but my replacement gold card finally arrived and I celebrated the occasion by picking up my first red cup. I’m not a coffee person at all and caffeine always makes my anxiety kind of out of control {read: physically jittery and mentally jittery #yikes} so I opted for a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, my favorite holiday drink.

What Nicole Wore: All Lined Up
shop the post: black piped button down + burgundy skinny jeans + tall boots {also seen here} + black wool hat with laser cut detail {also seen here} + gold glitter skinny belt + black druzy necklace {also seen here} + nail polish + eye shadow + eye primer + blush + foundation + highlighter + setting spray + eyebrow filler + mascara

A new H&M store opened at the outlets outside of Louisville and while I snagged a couple store opening deals, I also grabbed this white button down. The v neckline and black piping were such unique details that I had to have it. The shirt is a a bit sheer so I pulled on a camisole underneath.

This button down fits well through the chest, but strains a bit around the hips so I tucked it into my new burgundy skinny jeans and belted it to give a more finished look. I’ve been majorly loving on my olive skinny jeans so I decided to give a burgundy pair a try when they went on sale.

I wanted to let the blouse speak for itself so I pulled out my black and gunmetal druzy necklace; I wear these necklaces all the time.

This weekend was so much fun. After work on Friday, I headed to Lexington for Big Blue Madness (for the very first time!). We got in late and missed this truly iconic moment that happened after Coach Mitchell said he was retiring the BBM dances, but we got to see the ladies scrimmage (then dance) and all of the men’s basketball action.

Saturday we headed back to Lexington to shop, catch the end of the Bourbon Chase (ummm who knew this was a thing?) and check out some pre-season NBA action with the Pelicans and Kings.  Seeing the UK alum play again in Rupp is always so cool. It was super chilly on Saturday so I bundled up since I knew we’d be walking around and probably freezing on the way to the car after the game. If anything, I may have overdone the layering, but in my mind you can never be too safe. What Nicole Wore: All Wrapped Up

I knew pretty early on that I wanted to add an olive puffer vest to my collection this year and this one from Francesca’s is perfect. It’s already sold out online, but your local boutique may have a few in stock if you’re lucky. The vest also comes in navy and black.  The pocket detailing on these remind me a lot of J. Crew’s retail puffer vests.
