Red Off The Shoulder Top + $100 SheIn Giveaway!

June 13, 2016

This red orange off the shoulder top is the perfect color for summer and follows the super popular off the shoulder trend.  I love how the bold color looks with white skinny jeans; one of my favorite things about summer style is being able to pair rich colors with white jeans all season.

This striped straw tote is a great size for carrying everything you need during the summer; it has a medium sized pouch inside for your keys and phone and can also hold a beach towel, sunscreen and other summer essentials.  The rope handle gives the bag a fun nautical touch.  Bonus: this tote also comes in navy and white stripes!

What Nicole Wore: Red Off The Shoulder Top

I paired the red-orange with my yellow beaded statement necklace and my oversized pink hoplite ring {latest obsession to be honest}.  I’ve been loving the marble trend for a minute now and couldn’t resist this fun piece in the hot pink.

I love the blue ombre and gold frames on my new aviators; I definitely see myself wearing these throughout the summer – the shape is different than all of the aviators I already own.

Pom Pom Off the Shoulder Top

June 10, 2016

Happy, happy Friday! Bringing you a super colorful and affordable look today in front of one of the prettiest walls in all of Louisville.  I’ve been wanting to go take pictures here for awhile and kept putting it off but after visiting the gorgeous Wynwood Walls, I knew I had to see the fun murals in my own hometown.

featured in this post: shein: off the shoulder top {under $15} + dressbarn: skinny jeans {also seen here} + forever 21: fringe wedges {also seen here} + pink howlite ring {also seen here} + stella dot: gold ring {also seen here} + hobby lobby: red bandana {similar} + karen walker: sunglasses c/o DITTO {also seen here} + kate spade: pink clutch {also seen here} + colourpop: matte x lippie stix

What Nicole Wore: Rainbow Pom Pom Off the Shoulder Top

I’ve been stocking up on the off the shoulder trend for summer over the past few weeks and loved the throwback bell sleeves and colorful pom poms on this white top.  The top is a soft cotton material and honestly makes me feel like I’m snugged up in my jersey sheets.  I’m wearing an XS; if you want a longer fit, I’d recommend sizing up.  And the best part is, the top is only $14!

I love this matte lipstick from ColourPop; I have a ton of their liquid lipsticks, but this is my first of the Lippie Stix.  They’re available in sheer, matte and satin finishes and like most ColourPop products the color payoff is amazing! I’m wearing one coat of this lipstick and only used my lip liner to outline my lips.

So let’s talk Friday Favorites:

  • I love how chic two piece sets look, but am so terrified of my thighs #typical.  The print and tassel detail on this one that Amy styled this week are gorgeous and make me want to go hunt down a set that works for me though!
  • Y’all – I am crushing on my new leopard clutch so hard.  It still hasn’t made its blog debut yet, but it had to be a Friday Favorite because…it’s under $40 + free shipping. Thank you eBay Gods, I am forever indebted to you. {Btw, that’s not an affiliate link, that’s a ‘you need this in your life at this price’ link.}
  • I just discovered Lindsay’s blog this week {yay more Kentucky bloggers!} and loved reading her thoughts on trusting organic growth on social media, specifically loop giveaways on Instagram. Without getting too far up on my soapbox, it can be incredibly frustrating to see mediocre accounts grow exponentially from indirectly {or directly} purchasing followers.  Seeing other bloggers struggle with the same “jealousy” always makes me feel a little bit better about sticking to my guns.
  • Obsessed with the print of Erin’s carry on bag; blue and white pretty much guarantees that I’ll like just about anything.

Since I was embracing all the trends of my childhood, I decided to go ahead and throw on a bandana too.  I was struggling to decide on a necklace to go with this shirt and suddenly thought, ‘but what if I just wore a bandana as a choker?’ Neck scarves are definitely making a comeback and I love the classic look of a red bandana for summertime.  {I 100% plan to rock this one at some point during the 4th of July week!}

Summer Maxi Dress

June 6, 2016

Last week seemed to fly by and I have a feeling this one will too.  I can’t say I’m mad about it.  This weekend was a busy one with sorority advisor training, but more importantly catching up on all the sleep I didn’t get last week.  Embarrassed to share, but I spent most of the weekend sleeping…I’d probably be upset about it if I wasn’t feeling so refreshed.

What Nicole Wore: Summer Maxi Dress
featured in this post: shein: printed maxi dress c/o {sold out} + charlotte russe: mint bib necklace {old, similar | also seen here} + old navy: crossbody purse {old, similar | also seen here} + target style: belt {old, similar} + clarks shoes: sandals {old, love these!} + tory burch: mint leather wrap bracelet + wristology watches: black watch {under $50 | also seen here} + karen walker: sunglasses c/o DITTO {also seen here} + china glaze: nail polish + colourpop: lipstick + tarte: tinted moisturizer + nars: blush
My maxi dress sold out super quickly, but I wanted to share some of the other really cute {and affordable!} maxis that SheIn has in stock right now:

What Nicole Wore: Summer Maxi Dress

I was in love with the bright colors and fun printed detail on this dress when I first saw it online. The thigh slit isn’t too high which is a major plus too.  It came with a tie belt made from the same fabric as the dress that I ended up taking off and replacing with a belt that came with an old skirt from Target.  The soft blue  in this dress made me want to embrace pastels a little more, so I pulled out my mint leather bracelet.  When I think of pastels, I usually categorize them as a spring thing, but they’re also great to incorporate into your summer wardrobe.

What Nicole Wore: Orange Maxi Dress

I felt a little hesitant about this thigh slit, but it wasn’t too, too high; this dress was too sheer for me on the bottom and my legs were clearly visible so I did pull on my mini slip underneath.  I was slightly concerned that it would be showing with the thigh slit, but after I pulled it up {to my waist}, it worked just fine.

What Nicole Wore: Summer Maxi Dress

I’ve been holding onto these tortoise frames from DITTO for almost a month now; y’all I love them so hard! I haven’t decided if I’m ready to swap them out yet, but I love the flexibility that DITTO’s designer eyewear gives me to hang on to pairs that I love as long as I want or immediately swap frames that I don’t like out.  The program starts at just $24 a month with options for prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses; try one month out for free by entering code whatnicolewore at checkout!

Red Scallop Dress

June 1, 2016

This red number from SheIn was such a romantic addition to my closet with the deep red hue and the flirty fit and flare.  Speaking of flirty, today I’m linking up with some blogger friends to share how we dress up for summer weddings!

Although wine tends to be a color associated with fall fashion, I love how wine clothing looks on a tan so I couldn’t pass it up. Plus the scalloped neckline? In love! The back is also a v-neck cut with scallops.  The dress is a thicker fabric that is forgiving if you eat too much wedding cake {been there} and has a side zipper.  I ordered a small in this dress.

What Nicole Wore: Red Scallop Dress
featured in this post: shein: red scallop dress c/o + forever 21: suede wedges {also seen here} + target style: gold glitter clutch {old, similar | also seen here} + carrie grace shop: ampersand necklace c/o {similar | also seen here} + fossil: tan leather strap watch c/o {also seen here} + charming charlie: cocktail ring {old} + DIY bracelet + maybelline: vivid matte liquid lipstick c/o influenster + tarte: tinted moisturizer + becca: highlighter + bare minerals: bronzer + tarte: blush + tarte: lip liner + nyx: setting spray
What Nicole Wore: Red Scallop Dress

Influenster sent me Maybelline’s new Vivid Matte Liquid lipstick to try out in two different colors and this Rebel Red shade had me feeling all the heart eye emojis.  The lipstick is super easy to apply; the wand is flexible which I love because it makes it easier to follow your lip liner when applying.

What Nicole Wore: Red Scallop Dress

The scent is meh, not unbearable but not my favorite — I’d much prefer an unscented lipstick.  This shade is very bold, but definitely not matte.  The vox box suggested kissing a tissue after applying to achieve a matte finish and while it definitely does give a more matte look, I didn’t like the way it took away from the pigmentation.  I plan to use these lipsticks as glossy finish lipsticks, which have actually grown on me the past couple months.

What Nicole Wore: Red Scallop Dress

I love this gold ampersand necklace and think it’s perfect for weddings as two people join as one {as corny as that sounds typed out.}  I wore an oversized and colorful cocktail ring as well as my turquoise and gold bracelet, a neutral leather watch and a gold glitter clutch.

Be sure to check out all the other ladies and their fab summer wedding attire!

Colorful Tassel Dress

May 30, 2016

Normally with Mondays, everyone feels so blah but with today being Memorial Day, I hope you are enjoying some sunshine and relaxing….and maybe even shopping 😉  With summer pretty much, basically, in my mind being here, I thought I’d show off one of the summer dresses I recently added to my closet that is a complete stunner and just under $20!

What Nicole Wore: Colorful Tassel Dress
featured in this post: shein: tassel shift dress c/o + target style: natural wedges {old, similar – on sale! | also seen here} + michael kors: leather bag {color not available | also seen here} + francesca’s: marble necklace {similar | also seen here} + michael kors: watch {similar linked and budget-friendly version here | also seen here} + diy bracelets + karen walker: sunglasses c/o DITTO {also seen here} + opi: nail polish + colourpop: lipstick

What Nicole Wore: Colorful Tassel Dress

Tassels have been all the rage over the past six months or so and I could not resist this fun dress when I first saw it online.  I mean blue and white {my go to color combo} + colorful tassels? Consider me one hundred percent sold.  I got a few questions about fit and quality after I posted this on Instagram; I sized down to an XS {not normal for me with SheIn products} and found this dress to be decent quality. The skirt of the dress is a bit sheer, especially with my coloring, but my mini slip has yet to let me down. #YouTheRealMVPWhat Nicole Wore: Colorful Tassel Dress

I bought these natural wedges from Target on clearance forever ago and every time I start to think maybe its time to get rid of them, I end up finding myself needing them for an outfit.  I really wanted to let this dress be the star of the show so a shoe that gave me some height and quietly accentuated my legs seemed like a good choice. What Nicole Wore: Colorful Tassel Dress

Sometimes accessories make an outfit and sometimes they quietly add to it; I love how eye catching and colorful this dress is.  To complement it, I tried to choose accessories that went with the different colors of this tassel dress.  My orange Michael Kors bag was perfect with this and I picked simple stretch bracelets to go with my cobalt faced watch.  While I’m a big fan of a bold red lip, I switched things up by putting on a hot pink lipstick that matches both my dress and my nails.  The neckline of this dress is perfect for a shorter necklace so I picked out my marble printed necklace to add a fun print into the look.

I know I’ll definitely be wearing this dress throughout the summer and it would make such a fun swim coverup if you’re looking for something cute and colorful for the beach or pool!

What Nicole Wore: Colorful Tassel Dress

Hope you’re having a great long weekend; be sure to stop by Wednesday to see a summer wedding guest look!
