Adorn Apparel: Summer Floral Dress

July 20, 2016

I absolutely love the dress that I’m featuring today because it has so many possibilities: you can throw a jean jacket over it for a more casual look or wear it out for dinner or drinks.  One of the awesome things about it is that it’s under $45!

I’m not always into being matchy-matchy, but I couldn’t get over how perfectly my new tassel pieces matched with this turquoise floral print.  I also pulled on this pink and orange stretch bracelet as a way to add in some more fun color.  I love that the florals in this print have such vibrant and eye catching colors.

I wore my suede fringe wedges to bring a bit of a bohemian vibe into this look, but you could easily dress it up with a strappy nude {or hot pink} heel or dress it down with flat sandals.  The number of colors in this print make it easy to choose a complementary color and run with it.Summer Floral Dress

I’ve gone over the whole ‘I’m dark, I want my dresses lined’ rant a number of times and I’m happy to report that this dress is lined (HOORAY!) and also features a super cute neckline.  The subtle halter shows off some shoulder and has a fun keyhole detail on the back.

Completely unrelated but how awesome do my nails look here?! I wish I had the time, patience, not messy life to rock white nails all. the. time.

Bicycle Graphic Tee & Vera Bradley Tess Crossbody

July 18, 2016

Cheers to Monday! I spent most of my weekend at the gym {#WhoAmI} and putting off studying for the test I have this week, but the kickoff and highlight of my weekend was a super sweet package from Vera Bradley featuring some of their brand new fall items that launched last Tuesday! Over the past couple years, they have stepped up their design game big time and released leather styles that are absolutely stunning while maintaining the convenience that brand lovers have come to expect with their products.

Bicycle Graphic Tee

This bag is available in several different colors and fabrications, such as cognac & black leather, and a couple of different prints too.  You can snag the leather bag on sale in lilac {under $100!} and white {almost 40% off!} right now!  I love this one because it brings in burgundy which is always such a big color for fall and the black piping is fabulous.

Almost immediately, I knew that I wanted to create an outfit around my new bag and this super cute graphic tee.  At $12 it’s a great deal and the fit is really comfortable; I did go up to a small in this one just so it was a bit looser.  This outfit also would be super fun with a button-front denim {or suede} skirt for a more casual look.

These skirts go with everything and are super easy to wear. My only knock against them is that the linen material wrinkles super easily.  Luckily, it’s very easy to steam, but it’s not a piece I’d travel with.

Striped Off the Shoulder Dress

July 14, 2016

It’s Thursday and I’m happy to report that I’ve survived another week and even made it to the gym a couple times.  I’ve been loving off the shoulder pieces lately and the dress in today’s post is right up my alley: colorful and striped with a fun fit and flare.

Striped Off the Shoulder Dress
featured in this post: shein: striped off the shoulder dress c/o {sold out, shop more off the shoulder dresses HERE}+ rebecca minkoff: leopard bag {similar} + forever21: fringe wedges + my jewel candy: astrology necklace c/o + fossil: leather watch c/o + modern and chic: crystal bracelet c/o {use NICOLESTYLE for 20% off your purchase} + pink howlite ring + colourpop: lipstick + anastasia beverly hills: eyebrow filler + opi: nail polish + urban decay: naked palette eyeshadow

Striped Off the Shoulder Dress

I work with SheIn pretty frequently for my blog and the amazing thing is that they always have new product being added to their website and I’m always able to find something that’s “me.”  So often now with big chains that are at the malls, I go in and leave empty handed because I won’t like a current collection; a girl wants options, y’all!  The playful vertical stripes were too cute for me to pass up on and shockingly I own very few striped pieces that are vertical; the effect is slimming and I love that these ones have a brushstroke effect.  Like many short sleeved off the shoulder pieces, this dress can also be worn as a strapless dress too.

Striped Off the Shoulder Dress

Necklaces can seem daunting with this neckline, but I swear by the shorter and more delicate pieces.  I have several that I love {and that you all regularly see: my howlite necklace and the Kendra Scott Elisa necklace immediately come to mind}.  I’m wearing a fun constellation necklace here to celebrate the fact that Leo season is almost upon us.  I’ve raved about my pink howlite ring before — I have a serious obsession with all things howlite and love the oversized nature of this ring.Striped Off the Shoulder Dress

Neutral {ish} accessories were what I chose to round out the look.  My mini MAB is one of my favorite bags due to the super cute and versatile print; this exact print is actually available right now {in very limited quantities} in a similar size from Rebecca Minkoff here.  White nails seem so chic for summer but are always so hard for me to keep “clean” looking — any tips?

Easy Summer Dressing with Tara Lynn’s Boutique

July 13, 2016

Happy Wednesday! I’ve been working on tweaking my blogging schedule a bit so tomorrow there will be a new outfit post up and hopefully going forward there will be new posts on What Nicole Wore every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday!

What Nicole Wore: Easy Summer Dressing with Tara Lynn's Boutique

We’re quickly approaching ‘it’s too hot to wear more than minimal clothing’ degrees in Kentucky and I’ve been stocking up on all the cute and lightweight tanks I can get my grubby little hands on because pretty soon it’s all I’m going to want to wear. This white eyelet tank from Tara Lynn’s Boutique immediately caught my eyelet with the mixed media detail between the eyelet and sides and the cute orange and baby blue pom pom trim.  My order arrived super quickly and the XS is an easy breezy fit on me.  Lots of small boutiques don’t carry XS in tops and I find myself drowning in fabric — not the case with Tara Lynn’s!

I wore this tank out when I went to grab donuts and look at some of the wall murals while I was in Cincinnati.  The eyelet covers the shoulders so I did wear a strapless bra with it, but I’m pretty much BFFs with my strapless bra now so no harm, no foul.  The fun trim on this tank made it fun to accessorize — you really can wear so many summer colors with it.  I wore my blue faced Michael Kors watch and a couple bright stretch bracelets that I love.

My Madewell tote has been everything lately; it’s the perfect sized bag for school {I can pack all my folders, notebooks, pens and of course many, many snacks} or work and was perfect for toting around my tripod and essentials while I was out of town.  It does come in a couple different colors but I couldn’t resist this classic cognac that goes with everything.

How I Style It: Nautical Vibes

July 6, 2016

Welcome to this month’s installment of How I Style It! Each month I team up with four other bloggers and we each create an outfit around a new theme.  This month we’re all showing off a nautical look to celebrate being right in the middle of summer.

How I Style It: Nautical Vibes
featured in this post: shein: striped tee with ruffle hem and sleeves c/o {only $15!} + dressbarn: skinny jeans + forever21: nude strap heels {under $30} + rebecca minkoff: love crossbody {similar, also available in black} + headbands of hope: teal braid headband c/o + elizabeth and james: sunglasses c/o + ampersand necklace c/o {similar} + designer inspired statement necklace {old} + turquoise bracelet set {similar} + colourpop: lipstick
How I Style It: Nautical Vibes

Just going to warn you all now that this top is 100% addictive.  I’ve had it for a week and already worn it twice {friends and family, I swear I have clothes + do laundry!}.  I know that I’ll be wearing this a ton come college sports season as this shirt is perfect for cheering on my Cats in, but the classic blue and white stripes make it fun to style for summer.  The ruffle sleeves work in the bell sleeve trend, but weren’t overwhelming to me.  I have smaller wrists and don’t like the idea of swimming in fabric so having a short bell sleeve is the perfect compromise for me.  The hem is a ruffled peplum that is flattering, allows you to indulge in an extra helping of cake {no judgment here} and also is a great length — I’m constantly wearing my FitBit on my hip and while it’s super functional, it’s not the most fashionable accessory.  I love having shirts that are long enough to cover it up.  I’m wearing the XS in this top and it’s loose without being baggy or too oversized.

How I Style It: Nautical Vibes

{Have you ordered your new Kate Spade planner yet?}

I pulled in lots of turquoise as it is one of my favorite accent colors for summer.  My new headband from matches my bracelet and necklace perfectly and even better gives to a wonderful cause.  For every headband purchased, Headbands of Hope donates another to a child with cancer.  Companies that give back always have a place in my heart {and my wallet.}
