How I Style It: Fall Dresses

November 2, 2016

It’s the first Wednesday of the month which means that it’s time for another How I Style It blog hop.  For November, we are all styling fall dresses to give inspiration for the start of holiday season.  While I was getting ready to shoot this post, I realized I haven’t actually picked up a new dress this fall so I’m styling a tunic dress with a skirt.  {Shhh always cheating the system….}

How I Style It: Channeling a Disney Princess

October 5, 2016

It’s here, it’s here. We’re kicking off October on the blog with How I Style It and this month the ladies and I are all sharing looks inspired by Disney princesses in honor of Halloween!  I’m admittedly not much of a Disney person, but decided to break out this suede dress and channel my inner Pocahontas.

Four Way Flatlay: Burgundy Bell Sleeve Top

October 3, 2016

Happy Monday! With fall officially being here, I wanted to share some outfit inspiration featuring this cute bell sleeve top from SheIn that’s just $17 and perfect for fall with the pretty burgundy color and light fabric that makes it easy to layer.  I’m hoping to make Four Way Flatlay a semi-regular series on the blog that can inspire you on new ways to style pieces in your closet.  If there’s something you’d like to see remixed, please let me know!

Four Way Flatlay: Burgundy Bell Sleeve
featured in this photo: shein: burgundy bell sleeve baby doll top c/o + white skinny jeans {old, similar on sale} + navy buffalo plaid puffer vest {similar on sale} + things remembered: monogram necklace c/o + fossil: emi saddlebag c/o + plaid duck boots {love these and these (budget friendly) too} + camp socks {similar on sale}

My love for vests is quite well known; I’m thrilled that it’s finally cool enough to break my collection out.  I love the way that the navy checks look against the burgundy and went a step farther by mixing the buffalo plaid with the plaid of my duck boots.  I love wearing white after Labor Day and really like how crisp it looks against these bold colors.  My saddlebag is the perfect companion for this outfit that can easily take you apple picking or to the pumpkin patch; bonus, you don’t need to worry about getting your shoes dirty with these boots that you can spray down afterwards.

Faux Layered Sweater with Charming Charlie | What Nicole Wore Click To Tweet

It’s been in the eighties lately in Louisville so finding a compromise when it comes to what to wear has been super necessary. I love a good layered look, but actual layers are a bit tricky right now.  Luckily, this top from Charming Charlie has the put together, classic look of layers without all of the extra bulk making it easy to give off those fall vibes without sweating off half your body weight.

Checked Shirt

August 15, 2016

I’ve been hunting for a white blazer for a couple years now and just hadn’t been able to find one that I loved, but a couple weeks ago I stopped by the Express Factory store for the first time and found this one. It was on clearance for $17 and will definitely be a nice piece to transition between seasons with.

I’d been on the prowl for this specific item, because I love how crisp the white blazer looks and also because I knew how great it would look paired with a tee and jeans.  It really gives a simple outfit a more refined finish.  I’m hoping to wear it soon with a bright chartreuse tee and then a hunter green one in the fall.

Currently crushing on: this beautiful cognac leather tote from Vera Bradley.  While it comes in a “small” size option as well that would be perfect if you’re looking for a tote to carry your essentials in with an iPad or e-reader, I opted for the bigger option.  I’m definitely a ‘throw it in the bag’ kinda gal so having room for any and everything I could possibly need is one of the many ways to my heart when it comes to handbags.  This tote has room for my laptop, notebooks and folders and the perfect size for school or the office.  I also love that the front zip pocket can comfortably fit a planner.

To create a more dramatic ponytail, I pulled my hair up into a pony and then got one of my Irresistible Me hair extension weft that has seven clips. If I were putting all of my extensions in, this is the one that is the widest and gets placed across the crown of my scalp.  I took two of the center clips and hooked them into the base of my ponytail.  Wrap the loose ends of the weft around your pony and then take a small section of your extensions and wrap that around the base of your pony to cover up the ponytail holder and the top of the hair extensions. Voila!  My extensions were curled from the last time I’d worn them but you could do this with straight hair as well.

Thank you to SheIn and Vera Bradley for partnering with me on this post.  Working with brands allows me to continually create fresh and colorful content for What Nicole Wore. All opinions expressed are my own.
