Derby Days: Kentucky Derby Shep Shirt with Vineyard Vines

May 1, 2017

It’s Derby week!  And after sharing a variety of cute looks this year that are perfect for Derby or Oaks Day, I want to share a more laidback way to dress for Derby.  Every year, Vineyard Vines releases a collection of Kentucky Derby gear that perfectly fits the Southern style and fun spirit of Derby.  Snagging this year’s Shep Shirt was a no-brainer since I love being able to throw on a quarter zip this time of year.

KY Derby Shep Shirt | What’s the Skinny?

Traditionally, Vineyard Vines changes up the color of the Shep Shirt, but keeps their logo on the left shoulder as well as the back of the collar.  This year’s cotton quarter zip comes in white with fun Derby themed patches over the shoulders.  The patches range from jockey silks to mint juleps to horseshoes.  I still wear my Derby Shep Shirt from last year {see the post here!} and knew I wanted this one to be a little looser so I sized up.

With this year’s shirt being white, the styling possibilities are pretty wide. Admittedly, if you see me out and about wearing my Shep Shirt, I’m usually wearing jeans or my comfy Nike shorts.  I considered wearing styling this tucked into one of my sidewalk skirts, but instead broke out my brand new polka dot shorts.  I snagged these during my last trip to the Outlets; the scallop hem and polka dots seemed like a perfectly me combination. The shorts also come in four different solid colors, if that’s more your style!
