Girl Where Have You Been & Sephora Sale Splurge

April 20, 2018

We survived another week & what a week it’s been!  As per usual on Fridays, I’m sharing a quick life lately update and since there’s a huge beauty sale starting today I’ve rounded up my Sephora sale splurge list.  Let’s get to it!

Girl Where Have You Been & Sephora Sale Splurge | Life Lately

What a ride. I’ve been very fortunate in my relatively short life to have a strong immune system and very, very few health problems but April just knocked me on my butt.  The month started with a sore throat that I immediately chalked up to allergies.  After a few days of no relief, I finally headed to the doctor who gave me a strep test and prescription for an antibiotic.  I’d never had strep before but expected the virus to get knocked out in about 72 hours.  Six days in, I had an allergic reaction to my antibiotic.  A quick trip to the doctor confirmed that I did have strep throat, but also had picked up mono.

I really didn’t know much about mono before last week, but can say that the depleted energy is a tough cookie.  Taking four or five naps a day shouldn’t be physically possible and yet, I’ve been overachieving in the department for three weeks now.  I’m feeling VERY lucky that I’m recovering and feeling better and definitely won’t be taking my good health for granted in the future, phew.

Girl Where Have You Been & Sephora Sale Splurge | What Else?

Not a ton going on aside from surviving on cough drops and pudding but

  • I bought a bath tub tray! // I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before but our current house is limited on bath tubs; I can’t complain — I have a very nice walk in shower with a bench, etc. but every once in a while I’ll be like, ‘dang wish I had a bathtub.’  When I broke out with hives, I was not the most pleasant person and so my sweet mom turned my brother’s old bathroom into a spa.  I’m pretty sure I spent like 12+ hours in the bathtub, reading on my Kindle and so I broke down and ordered myself a bath tub tray so I can live that relaxation life forever.
  • Pinterest // I spent WAY too much time on Pinterest while on bedrest; it’s still one of my favorite social media sites for blogging and I’m super pumped that I’m up to almost 3 million monthly views.  What’s your favorite thing to pin about?
  • Kroger Spring Open House // Just as I was about to start getting stir crazy, I broke out of the house to go to Kroger’s open house event!  They had a delicious Mint Cider Julep that I can’t wait to recreate.
  • BeyChella // I couldn’t stay up, but watched the rebroadcast on Sunday morning and was just BLOWN away by the performance Beyonce put on.  She is forever someone that inspires me to be my best.

Girl Where Have You Been & Sephora Sale Splurge | What I Own, Love, & Like:

Sephora kicks off their VIB and Beauty Insider sale today which means you can save 10-15% on beauty items.  {If you’re an Ulta lover be sure to check your inbox; they emailed out a 20% off including prestige yesterday!}  I figured it was a good time to talk about some of the beauty items I’ve tried recently and break down what I’ve loved about them and what I didn’t!  If you’re not already signed up as a Beauty Insider with Sephora, it’s not too late — just register your email.

Girl Where Have You Been & Sephora Sale Splurge | New{ish} Products I’ve Tried!

  • Clarisonic Mia 1 Skin Cleansing System // I got one of these about two months ago.  I’ve mentioned before that I used a generic face spin brush and was happy with the results.  I don’t think this is a must buy, but I will say that I’ve really enjoyed using the Sonic Foundation Brush Head with this.  The face brush I was using before didn’t have a foundation brush option, so if you already have a Clarisonic and haven’t tried the foundation brush, I would recommend!
  • Urban Decay Backtalk Palette // I’ve been using the face portion of this palette more than the eyeshadows; I love the two highlights that they included. Party Foul is gorgeous and can be made more blinding by using the setting spray on the brush before applying the highlight.  Low Key has some rose tones in it and is a pretty everyday highlight.  The eyeshadows are definitely pretty but if you have multiple eyeshadow palettes, it’s likely that you have some similar shades. {If you’re thinking about investing in an Urban Decay palette, I still swear by my original Naked palette.}
  • Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation // This foundation is like a glowy Snapchat filter in real life on your skin.  Yes, it’s expensive but it smells phenomenal, applies like a dream, and makes me look like I walked off the pages of Vogue. If you told me I could only buy one thing from the Sephora sale, it would be a new bottle of this foundation.
  • It Cosmetics Brow Power Pencil // I switch brow products all the time but seem to keep coming back to this pencil and the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo.  I like this pencil when I’m running late and need to quickly get my brows fixed.  The product isn’t too waxy but also isn’t too dry and is really good for building a defined eyebrow.

Girl Where Have You Been & Sephora Sale Splurge | Other Things

  • Urban Decay Vice Lipstick // I’ve been able to try these in a few different shades and really like the matte cream formula! While I’m not usually a nude lipstick kinda gal, Backtalk is a shade that I’ve found myself wearing a ton lately.
  • Tom Ford Matte Lipstick // Realistically, I refuse to spend this much on lipstick but the packaging is to die for and the formula is amazing so if I won the lottery it’s safe to say I’d own this lipstick in every color.  {I’m not practical but I do know what I like, you know?}
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette // I haven’t had a chance to try this out yet, but it’s sitting in my bathroom waiting for me! I ordered this palette prior to getting sick, it arrived damaged and I just got it swapped out yesterday.  People rave about Anastasia eyeshadows so I’m excited to see what I think.

Now tell me — what are you thinking about ordering from the Sephora {or Ulta} sale?

    I bought way too much at the Sephora sale! I missed the Ulta email somehow – sad that I stocked up on a bunch of favorites there today as well. Take care of yourself, friend! Hope you’re feeling better.

    Oh my gosh YIKES so sorry about mono! I had a similar mono-like virus my freshman year of college (It came up negative in mono tests, but I had every symptom, and the doctors said it was a similar virus -_- ), and I had to miss two weeks of school and essentially didn’t leave bed. The worst! Glad you’re feeling better now!!!
