Little Black Dress with eShakti

September 13, 2016

I’ve blogged about the customizable magic that is eShakti before, but for those not familiar with the company, you are able to select a style and then completely customize it.  Want more sleeve? Done.  Think the hem could use a couple more inches? Easy. Neckline not flattering on you? Change it.

I immediately loved this dress – y’all know I’m a sucker for a good fit and flare – but pockets always make me feel self-concious about my already wide hips.  Being able to have the dress made for me sans pockets at no extra charge made this embroidered little black dress an easy addition to both my shopping cart and my closet. eShakti offers standard sizing, but I opted to send over my measurements and have the dress made specifically for me; it really takes out the ‘will this run large or small’ worrying that happens a lot.

How to Wear a Tee Shirt Dress, Two Ways

September 8, 2016

Happy happy Thursday! I am taking my last final of the summer quarter today and could not feel anymore #blessed to be done and free from school for the next two weeks.

{This post contains affiliate and/or referral links. I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you if you make a purchase through a link in this post. Thank you for your support of What Nicole Wore.}

Today, I’m sharing two different outfits with this sleeveless tee shirt dress from SheIn.

Tee Shirt Dress, Two Ways
outfit #1: shein: olive sleeveless tee shirt dress with mock neck c/o + white blazer {outlet find, similar} + rubenabird: white tassel necklace c/o + transport tote {budget friendly option} + matte lipstick

Depending on where you work, tee shirt dresses may or may not be appropriate work wear.  Working part-time in retail gives me a lot of dress code flexibility, but I try to elevate the pieces I wear.  What I’ve learned over time is that it is possible to make a tee shirt, or in this case a tee shirt dress, look dressier than it does hanging in your closet.

Tee Shirt Dress, Two Ways

I’ve been loving all of the fall color that retailers are cranking out by the day it seems like and this simple olive dress immediately found it’s way onto my wish list.  I briefly talked about breaking the white after Labor Day rule in yesterday’s post, but I am not someone that packs their whites away on Labor Day evening.  The fashion rule seems to become more and more obsolete each year although I will say that I enjoy seeing retailers mark down all of their white items around this time.
Tee Shirt Dress, Two Ways

I love how crisp white is when paired with fall hues, so I threw my white streamlined blazer on over this tank dress and broke out my white crystal tassel necklace.  A good cognac leather tote is a fall staple for me because the color plays so well with the popular fall hues.

Tee Shirt Dress, Two Ways
outfit #2: shein: sleeveless tee shirt dress with mock neck c/o + plaid blanket scarf {under $15} + tignanello handbags: borough vintage c/o + cat footwear: olive boots c/o + fossil: boyfriend sport watch c/o + nail polish c/o

This second look is definitely more casual take on how to accessorize your tee shirt dresses, but I love wearing an outfit like this during the fall weekends when I may be going to football games, farmers markets or visiting a pumpkin patch.  When it cools down a little more it’s perfect to throw on with a suede or leather jacket too.

Tee Shirt Dress, Two Ways

Blanket scarves are here to stay for at least another year; admittedly, here in the Bluegrass it’s too hot to really justify breaking them out yet.  {Although I did take one to put over my lap in an aggressively air conditioned classroom recently.}  I have a few different colors of this popular fall staple, but this one with the navy, burgundy and mustard yellow throughout the plaid really screams fall to me.  This watch has a thinner leather strap and silver hardware; one of the best things about it is that the watch straps seem to be a bit shorter and so it fits my wrist really well.

Tee Shirt Dress, Two Ways

Part of what drew me to this crossbody bag from Tignanello was the unique color; I just said above how cognac handbags are a fall staple and while I love the classic neutral, it does seem like this is the time of year when handbag retailers really push cognac and black.  A girl’s gotta have some options!  This teal green shade is dark enough to be fall appropriate but still stands out.

Tee Shirt Dress, Two Ways

And finally, to round out this more laid back look, I wore these cognac heeled ankle boots.  These are pretty heavy duty, the leather is thick and the block heel is the perfect “not too high, not too short” height.

Thank you to SheIn and Tignanello Handbags for partnering with me on this post.  As always, all opinions expressed are my own.

How I Style It: White After Labor Day

September 7, 2016

Before we get into it, let me say that my indoor, nighttime camera skills still have a lot of work to be done, but sometimes you go out to dinner, miss the sunset and have to improvise. Guilty as charged, your Honor.  Also note to self, don’t shoot in red room again.  This post is going to be pretty short and sweet as a result.

Blog Hop: White After Labor Day
featured in this post: shein: tassel tank c/o + white jeans {similar} + vera bradley: tess crossbody c/o + fossil: watch c/o + ‘i’ve got so much to do’ mug {under $15} + gold rings 1 & 2 + nail polish c/o

When we decided on a white after Labor Day theme for this month’s blog hop, I knew I wanted to rock my white skinny jeans and this teal tank was my choice to go with it.

Blog Hop: White After Labor Day

It’s pretty well known that I am terrified of needles, but if I were to ever get past that fear, “I have so much to do that I’m going to bed” would probably be a candidate for a face tat. I am all about the naps & knew I had to have this mug after I saw it on Twitter.

LOFT Try Ons & LDW Sales

September 5, 2016

Happy Labor Day! I hope you’ve been able to enjoy the long weekend; I’ve been working and studying during most of it but did want to share some of the best deals out there that all end today — that means it’s time to start filling up your closet for fall and buying some fun items for next summer while you’re at it!

{This post contains affiliate and/or referral links. I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you if you make a purchase through a link in this post. Thank you for your support of What Nicole Wore.}

I took a break during my shift at LOFT to try on some of the new arrivals for fall and wanted to share a couple items that I love.  All full-price pieces are buy one, get one 50% off through tonight and sale items are an additional 60% off!

What Nicole Wore: LOFT Try Ons & LDW Sales
featured in this photo: striped swing tee + sweater jacket + jean leggings

I sized up to a small in this sweater jacket; the XS was a little too tight in the sleeves when worn with a top with sleeves.  The XS would be fine over a tank but anything with sleeves required me to go up a size.  I’m wearing these denim leggings in all of these try on photos and LOVE them.  I normally wear LOFT’s curvy jeans {my hips are the widest part of my body} so when I switch to any of the other fits, I typically size up one.  I went up to a 27 {which is a 4}.
