One Stop Shop to Get Ready for Kentucky Derby Festival

April 4, 2018

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Kentucky Derby Festival Fashion Show as a guest of Macy’s. Macy’s is the official sponsor of the event and really shows off the fact that they’re Louisville’s one stop shop for getting Derby ready. Keep reading for more of the process of picking out this look with help from Macy’s, my thoughts on the fashion show, and how I’d style this dress for Derby Day.

One Stop Shop to Get Ready for Kentucky Derby Festival | Getting Ready At Macy’s with MyStylist

The day before the show, Macy’s had a group of bloggers out to the Oxmoor store so that we could hear more about the process behind selecting items for the fashion show, mingle, and pick out our own looks. One of the MyStylists, Teri, pulled a variety of options to wear to the show for each of us.

While I’ve shopped at Macy’s any times in the past I didn’t realize this was an option that anyone could utilize! The personal fashion and beauty stylists can help you get ready for any occasion {not just Derby!} and will have pieces selected in your size based upon the information you give them.

One Stop Shop to Get Ready for Kentucky Derby Festival | The Yellow Dress

I immediately knew I wanted this yellow embroidered number; y’all know I love a good fit and flare. This one has pockets which let’s be real, makes it even better. The black and white threading in the background of this print elevates the accessory and jewelry possibilities; I opted for a pair of white statement earrings from Lucky Brand that Teri had pulled for me. To finish out the look, I broke out black wedges with scallop details with a black leather satchel and my go to Kendra Scott necklace.

One Stop Shop to Get Ready for Kentucky Derby Festival | The KDF Fashion Show

This was the first time I’ve attended the Fashion Show and definitely an experience I won’t forget. The show incorporates a ton of local boutiques and featured hats and fascinators from the Hat Girls! It was cool to see that the show supports the shop local movement while still showcasing Macy’s best offerings.

I went sans fascinator for this event, but I wanted to show how I’d style this look for Derby week. This ivory and black fascinator from Fascinators by Julia Bee will go with so many pieces in your closet & if you want them to add colors in to customize, they can do that too!
