Friday Five: New Comfies, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, and On Repeat

January 1, 2021

Happy New Year! Trying something new (but in a way old) with a Friday blog post of favorite articles, twitter threads, songs on repeat, etc. It’s more laid-back and hopefully you’ll enjoy something shared.

Still don’t know why I have such an affinity for strange news but kicking things off with this public service announcement! King of Fans is recalling some of their 54″ ceiling fans due to the blades detaching. (This sounds like a personal nightmare, not gonna lie.) 190,000 of the ceiling fans which are sold at Home Depot have been recalled and will be replaced free of charge.

TWO | New Comfies, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, and On Repeat

I’m WAY late to this story but this Twitter thread about how a janitor at Frito Lays created Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and then pitched it to the CEO is SO inspiring. Not sure about you, but I -need- more stories of the American Dream being realized like this. Pumped to hear this story is going to be made into a biopic. (Some more info about this fantastic story.)

I held out for awhile but decided to cave and buy some new, cute sweatshirts. I ended up buying the tie dye sweatshirt featured in the picture above! This one is the dusty rose marble dye in a size small. Also snagged two of this crewneck tunic sweatshirt in blue and violet in XS. They’re $15 and easy to throw on with jeans, leggings, or sweats which makes them perfect for my work from home routine.

Currently on repeat: Better Days by Anton Clemons featuring Justin Timberlake. Maybe I’ve subconsciously been listening to this with the hope of better days in this new year? It’s not a song that makes you want to get up and dance but I’ve really enjoyed listening to it while I’m working and love that they performed this for the virtual Rock the Runoff concert hosted by Fair Fight.

FIVE | New Comfies, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, and On Repeat

It’s no secret that I love reality tv so I was thrilled when I saw this tweet asking what the most chaotic scene or episode in reality TV history was. Pretty sure I spent at least an hour going through the quote replies and cackling. Personal favorites include any moment featuring my reality TV queen Tiffany “New York” Pollard, a throwback to Real World/Road Rules: The Challenge, this absolutely WILD scene from Catfish, and Diddy doing the most during Making the Band.

Let me know if you enjoyed this Friday post below and what you’ve been loving online this week! You can see this week’s posts here and here.
