The Super Bowl of style blogging is here y’all: it’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I ranted about this a bit on my Instagram Story yesterday, but with this being such a hyped sale I think it’s important to share that you don’t -HAVE- to buy anything. Today {at 12:30PM EST} marks the start of early access for Nordstrom card holders, but if you don’t have a card, don’t worry. Nordstrom typically does a big restock before public access begins.

Last year, my big splurge during the Nordstrom Sale was the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings. This is the best price point that I’ve seen them at all year so if it’s a piece you’re interested in investing in, now is a good time. I have the solid faux leather as well as the moto faux leather and much prefer the solid pair. They’re warmer than traditional black leggings and you can even wear them under pants once it gets really cold. Speaking of cold: big fan of the Sperry duck boots. I’ve had mine for two or three years now and they’re in great shape. Best of all they’re fleece lined which really helps when snow’s on the ground and it’s cold.

I basically live in my Nike shorts come spring and summer. They are actually one of the items that I’ve purchased in a ton of different colors. The Free Run sneakers took me all through multiple Europe trips. They’re great for walking and running and hands down my most comfortable sneakers. And of course, I included this Urban Decay set as I have a ton of their Vice lipsticks and swear by the All Nighter setting spray.

It should come as no surprise that my top picks consist of bold colors, stripes, classic lines, and animal print. Full disclosure: I’m not planning on buying all of these, but I will probably snag a piece or two. Most of these pieces caught my eye because of how colorful they are; it’s no secret that I like to mix my traditional fall hues with colors that standout. While leopard print is still my preferred animal print, I really like the look of the snakeskin moto jacket. It would look really cute over a black cami like this and with some distressed jeans for fall weekends.

Also including the Jo Malone fragrance set here because it’s a great value. These perfumes are definitely pricey; I have the Wood Sage & Sea Salt and always get compliments about how good I smell.

Including lots of booties in this section as they’re my favorite summer to fall transition shoe. You can wear ankle boots with shorts, skirts, dresses, pants, etc. Last year, I also found myself wearing loafers quite a bit and I love how bold these yellow loafers are. If you’re looking for new sunglasses there’s quite a few pairs included in this year’s anniversary sale, but I like all three of these pairs.

Again — there’s no such thing as too much leopard in my book. A lot of the pieces in this collage can be mixed and matched. The blue floral dress under the brown suede open blazer? So good! The Leith dresses have been a popular favorite in past sales; this year they updated the long sleeve version a bit. I love this hot pink, but they have a wide variety of colors available.

Wrapping things up, I’m a big fan of pieces that make layering easy. Kentucky notoriously has crazy weather. October can mean 80 degrees and then boom to the 50s. Tunics, tanks, lightweight jackets, and basic tees are pretty much my jam for fall and there’s lots of good options here. Personally loving the baseball style 3/4 sleeve tees plus they come in several prints and colors.
