Kentucky Gameday Outfit

October 12, 2016

I mentioned meeting up with Tif in Monday’s post and sure enough she’s popping up again on the blog 🙂 We’ve teamed up to show you two different Kentucky gameday looks as a way of celebrating the fact that Big Blue Madness is this Friday!  Check out her look here. I’m pretty pumped to head over to Lexington, Friday after work with my friend Lindsey to take in the festivities.  Midnight Madness in Kentucky is kind of like a state holiday.

I talked a little last month about some of the reasons why it’s good to be a girl, but I would be skipping a huge portion of my life over the next few months if I didn’t add being able to have a wide variety of interests, like fashion and basketball, to that list.  Ever since high school, a large chunk of my fall and winter is devoted to following the Wildcats and unlike Kentucky football, they don’t let me down. {Save that one year with the NIT — we don’t speak of it.}
While I’m hands down, without question a girly girl {please don’t ever ask me to kill a spider or understand what’s wrong with my car}, my biggest interest outside of fashion is basketball.  And it’s serious — basketball season is the happiest time of the year for me.  I love being able to catch a game every night and between college ball and the NBA I pretty much always have a game on in the background while I’m working on school or blog work.  Quite honestly, when I think about having a “grown up job,” I usually see myself working in social media or marketing for a sports organization or a fashion retailer.  Thank you blogging for making me realize that it is actually possible to find a job related to my seemingly scattered interests.
So onto the outfit: while I didn’t need to add any more vests to my collection, I couldn’t resist this one when I saw that it was a true Kentucky blue.  I let the vest be a statement and paired it with soft neutrals in my tan sweater and white skinny jeans.  It’s been getting cooler lately so a vest and sweater makes sense and I’ve even been able to break out my boots.  These ones keep your feet super warm and I love the navy and green in the plaid.
I mentioned that I love the mixed texture between the leather and calf hair on this bag in last week’s post, but if you follow me on Instagram you may have seen how cute the interior of this bag is in my InstaStory over the weekend.  If you didn’t, this bag is lined with a red cotton that has zebras all over to match the zebra stripes on the front of this mini satchel.  I love that the front pocket is big enough for me to slip my phone into; with all the restrictions on bag sizes at sporting events this one is the perfect size to bring in.  I can comfortably fit my keys and lipstick and the inside has card slots on the side for your ID, cards and cash.
Be sure to check out Tif’s post here.  I love how she dressed up a graphic tee for this look!
