Friday Five: It’s the Audacity for Me!

January 15, 2021

We made it to Friday and I cannot wait to kick things off with a story that I’ve spent way too long thinking about. This story has it all: the audacity of white men, better known as caucasity, civil unrest, and a reminder that the best and brightest were not in DC last week.

Friend, I went through a dark period around 2008 where I was OBSESSED with Michael Phelps. I could tell you his birthday (June 30th), relay teammates, about the training facility he used at the University of Michigan — I was an ENCYCLOPEDIA.

So this week, I was shocked when I saw a familiar name making headlines: Klete Keller.

I didn’t think this needed to be said, but please don’t go committing crimes in your Team USA jacket. While all of the thinking behind last week has me confused, I truly do not understand WHY you would go do this if you’re a known public figure that could be easily identified!!!

The entire incident makes me think of this gem from Charles Barkley that still makes me belly laugh to this day.

TWO | Friday Five: It’s the Audacity for Me!

Maybe this year, I’ll watch a lot more TV? I started Bridgerton this week and have been absolutely hooked. I have three episodes left and feel like I’ll probably binge those this weekend. With the news that they’re planning on making eight seasons, I’m hoping to read the books!

Also after watching the show, I’m convinced that I need wisteria vines this spring.

THREE | Friday Five: It’s the Audacity for Me!

Target launched their Black History Month collection and I swooped in to snag this sweatshirt and a fun graphic tee. While I’m technically doing a low spend month, last year the collection sold FAST so I decided to go ahead and buy the pieces I wanted. I don’t normally wear brown since it kind of blends in with my skin tone but I’m so glad I snagged this sweatshirt (ordered a small) because it’s very soft and perfect for work from home.

Tomi and I have a new Bach Chat up that’s all about the second episode of The Bachelor. We talk about the two one on one dates from the most recent episode plus debate whether or not Queen Victoria is a producer plant. (Abigail is still my queen and I think she might actually be TOO good for the Bachelor franchise?!)

Still thinking about this American hero tbh. I had a couple people ask if I noticed an influx in rioters on dating apps and am sad to report that I only saw one. Setting your preferences to Conservative here would be a dead giveaway as I’ve noticed most DC area conservatives tend to identify themselves as moderate or say they’re non-political.

And that’s all I’ve got — what are you planning on binge watching or reading this weekend?
