Who else loves a good basic tee and jeans look?  I love knowing I can always fall back on this outfit combo on days when I’m running late or can’t decide what to wear.  While I strayed away from this exact combo for awhile, I think the key is finding quality tee shirts.  {I used to always buy my tees super fitted and am just not into that look anymore.}

I went to Chicago in early September and swung by the Gold Coast store with my friend Michelle while I was in town.  I was so excited to see that this striped tee had been marked down; I’d had my eye on it for awhile.  I found this tee to be somewhat short in length so sizing up to the small made it possible to wear tucked.

How to Get the It Girl Look for Less | Wear Accessories That Pack a Punch

To solidify my It Girl look, I paired my basics with accessories that elevate my outfit.  I’ve longingly eyed the Gucci belt for a couple years now, but wasn’t ready to invest quite so much in a belt.  Luckily, I found a pretty good looking dupe off Amazon that I really like!  This dupe also is available with a silver buckle if you’re not a fan of gold.

I’m actually a big fan of mixing brown and black accessories so I pulled out my cognac leather heeled mules from 1State.  I snagged these at Gordman’s back in May and love the color and look of these shoes.  This cognac leather satchel from Dooney & Bourke is absolutely gorgeous; the shape is cute and it comes with a longer strap as well.  Finally to tie the whole look together, I pulled out this rose quartz pendant necklace.  The chain is adjustable which allows you to create different looks for different necklines.

A fall colored lipstick and good smokey eye never hurt in completing a look.  I pulled out one of my favorite berry shades that complements the colors in my striped tee and then tried out some new eyeshadow.  If you follow along on Instagram, you may have caught the unboxing I did of some popular Avon makeup and skincare products.  I used one of the eyeshadow quads to create a subtle smokey eye.  I was surprised by how well the shadows performed; they were easy to blend out and pigmented.  The shimmer shades weren’t as pigmented as some but I did feel like this drugstore price performed better than most drugstore eyeshadows I’ve tried.
