Derby Days with The Hat Girls

April 13, 2017

I pulled out all the spring trends for this Derby look with the Hat Girls.  When I first saw this navy floral skirt from Gray Monroe, I was taken by the bright spring hues through the skirt.  The combination of navy and blush has been super popular for spring and I knew I wanted to highlight the navy and white from my skirt with a matching hat.

What’s the skinny on The Hat Girls?

Kate and Rachel create custom one of a kind hats {this is their fourth year taking on Derby season!}  This year they have a pop up shop in Norton Commons where they have a variety of ready to purchase pieces through May 6th.  While I’m normally a fascinator kinda gal, I really liked the blue and white combination of this hat and it matched perfectly with my skirt.

Devil’s in the details.

This skirt from Gray Monroe is gorgeous with the navy background and spring florals but did run big.  Since the back of the waist was elastic, I hoped it would be more fitted at the waist.  Just wanted to share that in case any of you are pear shaped as well.  Blush is a pretty neutral so I paired it with nude shoes and my favorite leather crossbody bag.  Blue jewelry helped to complete the look; the iridescent necklace ties in with the skirt and matches up with my ombre bracelet stack.
