Frequently on the Move: Friday Favorites

August 18, 2017

It’s been three weeks since my last Friday Favorites post {I know, I know} so I had to jump in and update y’all on life lately!  I’m sharing all the details on family visiting, the new Tory Burch outlet store, and a sleepover with my blogger bestie.

Millenial blogger, What Nicole Wore, shares the highlights of her week plus some of her favorite buys!

Friday Favorites | Life Lately:

  • My aunt and cousin visited from California!  My heart was so full guys.  We stayed up way too late multiple times, caught up, told stories and explored Louisville.  {PS. A What to do in Lou post is coming soon!}  I felt so lucky to have everyone in town for my birthday and already miss them.  One of the places we went is Yew Dell Gardens which is where I snapped the photo of this frog!
  • Draper James x Kentucky Bride Shoot | Kentucky Bride shot a fun editorial for their October issue and I got to be apart of it.  Since I had a 7:35 am makeup appointment, Tif let me crash at her house Monday night {you’re a blessing girlfriend} so that I didn’t have to wake up any earlier than necessary.  While I talk to Tif daily {seriously…}, it’s always awesome to be face to face to talk about life, blogging and…the Backstreet Boys.  I can’t wait to share the photos with y’all!Kentucky blogger, What Nicole Wore, shares about the Tory Burch outlet opening at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass in Simpsonville, Kentucky.
  • The new Tory Burch outlet opened! Wednesday, I met with Amy from the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass and checked out the TB outlet on opening day. While I behaved myself and didn’t buy anything, I do have my eyes on a new purse and wallet! I’m hoping they’ll run a percentage off the whole store soon like they do at some of the other outlet stores.
  • Sleep Deprived | If you’re keeping track, I went from having my family here for a week to driving to Lexington, driving back and a few business meetings.  Your girl is TIRED haha. I have every intention of sleeping in all weekend and knocking out some school stuff.
  • Shopping | And yet, despite being exhausted, I still managed to sneak in some shopping this week.  What can I say? I’m very talented.  I stopped by Ulta to pick up my free birthday gift — be sure to sign up for rewards to get some freebies! While I was there I finally picked up a lipstick that Tif and Lindsay have both raved about & then stopped into DSW to try on some booties.  DSW sent me a gift card after I posted about a pair of OTK boots I snagged last year & I had $10 off for my birthday; I ordered these booties in olive! Be sure to go down half a size.

Friday Favorites | What I’m Reading:

  • How to Migrate from Blogger to WordPress | Tif and her husband did the big switch themselves earlier this year and it went so well.  {Seriously, I know because I was the person Tif would message to check things haha}  Fun fact: my very first blog before WNW was actually through Blogger.  I probably would have used that again but wasn’t able to get ‘What Nicole Wore’ through Blogger as someone had already used the name.  However two and a half years later, I’m really glad I went with a self-hosted WordPress blog as it has allowed me a lot of freedom with design, layout, etc.  I’m still using the exact same theme I launched with but have been able to make MANY adjustments.
  • Any and everything about Charlottesville | Growing up in Virginia, I know a lot of people that went and are at UVA. I struggled with how to address what was going on and whether I should before seeing this tweet from Alicia.  You can read my thoughts about the state of our country and how it relates to the why behind What Nicole Wore here.
  • How to Become a Twitter Pro | I’ve hinted at it but I’ve been changing up how I prioritize social media {less focus on Instagram!} and so I’ve finally made Twitter a priority.  Summer’s post came right on time for me because I read it just as I was finalizing setting up Twitter lists.  While I’m still perfecting my Twitter game, I think that mixing things up by sharing others’ content, mixing in retweets and sharing real life has made my feed more interesting.

Friday Favorites | Currently Crushing On:

I just updated the New Arrivals tab and added an Under $50 tab so be sure to check those out for more!

  • Bright fuchsia bow mules
  • This office appropriate, bodysuit {on sale!}
  • Striped, scoop neck tee
  • Double ruffle sleeve top
  • Green, striped A-line skirt

I am glad to have caught up a bit. I am happy for you to have been part of the bridal shoot. The current events are so sad, so tragic, it is hard to focus on everyday things. I am not on twitter at this point and may consider it, I am interested to read your opinions and promise to tonight as my bedtime reading, hang in there beauty,
    Love, Elle
