It finally feels like fall in the Bluegrass state, which means I’m breaking out my fall layers and making some changes to my makeup routine for fall. Today, I’m sharing three of my keys to switching over to a fall beauty routine!

The season change always messes with my skin and traditionally this is the time of year that I find myself really needing a good moisturizer. Recently, I’ve been using the Day and Night Cream from Tula to keep my skin from drying out in the cooler weather. The product works well on my skin and smells wonderful.

3 Keys to Updating Your Fall Beauty Routine | Switch Up Your Shadows

Time to break out the darker eyeshadow combinations; I find myself working dark colors, both mattes and shimmer, into my crease and outer corner. During the summer, I like to go for an all over shimmer on my eyelid. During the cooler months I prefer to get a little more dramatic and to work in fall hues like olive, burgundy, and even some purples.

Here’s a bonus tip: switch over to a rose gold or gold highlighter!  I picked up the Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder and have been loving using it on my cheekbones, brow bone, and the tip of my nose.  It comes in a few different shades so don’t worry if this one isn’t your jam!

3 Keys to Updating Your Fall Beauty Routine | Finish Your Look!

Personal preference but I always put on my makeup before I fix my hair.  Since I do my hair last, it’s pretty normal for me to throw in some quick curls before running out the door.  Luckily, the Iconic Curling & Flat Iron Cover exists; you can put hot hair tools in and not worry about them.  I have one for my flat iron, another for my curling iron, and have given quite a few of these as gifts for friends.
