Embracing Bold Color in Time for Kentucky Derby

April 27, 2018

Fridays are usually reserved for favorites around here, but we’re switching things up a bit to show another #WNWdoesDerby look.  This Derby outfit is all about embracing bold color with a dress from Pink Blush that you can easily wear all summer for vacations, the pool, and weekends.

Embracing Bold Color in Time for Kentucky Derby | The Fascinator

This turquoise fascinator is another creation from Julia’s Etsy shop; it’s no secret that I love turquoise and so I knew I wanted to include at least one turquoise fascinator in this year’s Derby series.  This fascinator sits on a comb which I wasn’t sure about at first but is surprisingly easy to place and feels secure on the head.  I like that this fascinator has some height with the feathers and really makes a statement.

BTW, if you’re behind on your Derby shopping, Julia still has quite a few fascinators and hats left in her shop but be sure to order quick!

Embracing Bold Color in Time for Kentucky Derby | The Bag

This bag from SheIn caught my eye because I love a good designer dupe.  The holographic look is one that I love for summer and makes this miniature crossbody one that will go with most of your summer wardrobe.  Coincidentally, it’s a great size for Derby as well; you’ll want to make sure your bags are under the 12″ mark so that you can get into Churchill Downs without any issues.

Embracing Bold Color in Time for Kentucky Derby | Palm Print Everything

With summer coming up, you can expect to see a huge influx in palm print everything coming to your Instagram feed, Facebook timeline, and favorite boutiques.  This dress from PinkBlush stood out to me because of the multicolor palm print.  As we make the transition from spring to summer, I always find myself trying to work more color into my closet and everyday looks.  This dress is a super soft fabric and features a flounce ruffle detail on the hem.

Embracing Bold Color in Time for Kentucky Derby | Finish the Look

I reached for these black scallop wedges; they’re pretty comfortable and I love how chic they look.  With all the bold colors in this print, it’s easy to also break out a statement shoe to tie things together too.

Your turn: what summer colors or trends are you excited to break out?
