2 Derby Week Parties I’m Going To & the Roundup

April 24, 2019

I’ve talked extensively about what to wear for Kentucky Oaks, Thurby, and Derby day, but now it’s time to talk about another occasion. The parties!  I’m sharing the two Derby week parties you’ll be able to find me at plus a promo code for Saturday.  Oh, and a Derby party outfit idea too.

2 Derby Week Parties I’m Going To & the Roundup | The Best Derby Eve Party

Friday is Kentucky Oaks, but after that ends there will be quite a few parties happening.  I’m heading to the Silks Bash After Party for the first time and it is a GREAT deal.  Hosted at Locust Grove, the event has a live band, open bar, food, cigar roll, tasting from Brown Foreman, and more.  Best of all it benefits Operation Open Arms, a non-profit for children in foster care.  My boyfriend and I had the chance to attend their kick off party in March and decided pretty quickly that this was where we wanted to be on Derby Eve.

Derby parties can be expensive and one of the things that’s wonderful about the Silks Bash After Party is that the ticket is $100 and includes the open bar, free parking on site, and everything else mentioned above.  The party starts at 8PM and ends at 12:30AM, hope to see some of y’all there!

And after the 145th Kentucky Derby is run, I’ll be heading to the brand new Rabbit Hole distillery for the Derby closing party that starts at 9PM.  I’ve partnered with them and so if you use the promo code 5NICOLE you’ll receive 5% off any ticket to the party.  The party only ticket includes open bar with craft cocktails, live music, and more all hosted by Esquire Magazine.

2 Derby Week Parties I’m Going To & the Roundup | Other Options

Derby week is hands down the most magical week to be in or visit Louisville; the excitement is palpable and there’s constantly events going on.  Here are some others to check out:

  • Oaks & Derby at Hell or Highwater — The cocktail parties start at 7PM and go until 1AM. General admission is $200 and a premium ticket is $300. Your ticket includes hors d’oeuvres, a curated open bar, and live music at the speakeasy bar.  Be sure to make your reservation soon.

SheIn can be hit or miss; I’ve actually taken a bit of a break from ordering from them but figured it would be fun to pick out some party dresses to see how the quality and fit were.  This one jumped out with the white sequin overlay over nude.  I sized up to a medium based off the measurements they listed; it’s definitely a little outside of my usual style choices but I do like the fit for a cocktail attire party.

I will say that the fit of this dress is tight; I’m wearing Spanx here although I didn’t have to.  Highly recommend a solid strapless pushup bra.  I get questions about SheIn’s quality quite a bit; I’d compare it to Forever21.  This dress isn’t one that will last you forever and you’ll probably lose some sequins if you’re dancing against someone all night.  But if you’re looking for a trendy dress to wear two or three times, this may be it.
