Affordable Lipstick?! My Favorite ColourPop Shades

After I wrote about beauty products that I keep repurchasing, a lot of you asked for more about ColourPop and what my favorite lip colors were from the brand. If you’re not familiar with ColourPop, they are a beauty brand that produces super affordable makeup products and tools. Last week, they launched a limited product line at Sephora.

I’ve purchased quite a few of their lipsticks; at $6 they’re drugstore prices with a pigment level that competes with high-end lipsticks. I’m sharing a handful of my favorite shades from the cruelty free brand in three of the different formulas: Ultra Matte, Ultra Satin, and the Lippie Stix.

Affordable Lipstick?! My Favorite ColourPop Shades | More Better

My first ColourPop purchase was a mini set {here’s another mini option!} of the Ultra Matte lipsticks. It’s a great way to try out the product since you get a few different shades. More Better is one of my favorite colors from my set; the berry shade applies evenly with one coat. I get a lot of wear out of this color during the fall months as it’s the perfect wine hue that doesn’t make your teeth look yellow.

Affordable Lipstick?! My Favorite ColourPop Shades | Poppin’

ColourPop runs fun promos when they hit follower milestones on social media; this lipstick was a freebie after they hit one million followers on Instagram. I placed an order because there were some colors I wanted to snag and because I was interested in trying out the reformulated Lippie Stix. This hot pink shade is the Matte X formula. If you prefer traditional lipsticks over liquid, this product is perfect for you and just $5.

I know this is a favorites post, but this shade is a miss for me. While I love how the color looks on, the formula of this liquid lipstick is incredibly patchy. I have heard that they reworked the formula after receiving so many complaints about the patchy factor so if you love the color it doesn’t hurt to give it a shot. Pro tip: be sure to line before applying this color as it will bleed.

The bolder, the better, right? This red orange shade is a go to for me during the summer months. I’m a big fan of the Ultra Satin formula because of how comfortable it is; none of the drying that you get with mattes. A lot of people may feel intimidated by the orange undertone but Cozy is one shade that I always gets compliments on!

Affordable Lipstick?! My Favorite ColourPop Shades | Creeper

This red gets all the praise hands emojis from me. A true blue-red, this in your face red lipstick photographs SO well and makes teeth look super white. It is SUPER bold so if red lipstick intimidates you, you may want to try another red shade first! You’ll need to line your lips to prevent bleeding over time, but the color goes on in one swipe and holds up well. Pro tip: avoid eating any greasy foods with the Ultra Mattes or you’ll have lipstick all over.

Finding a nude lipstick that isn’t too light on me can be a challenge so when ColourPop came out with the Ultra Matte formula, I ordered a bunch of different nudes to try and find one that would work. If you’re fair or medium complexion this will be more of a rose color on you but for my golden-tan skin, this is the perfect nude. {If you are on the fairer side, Echo Park and Magic Wand are gorgeous nudes on your skin tone!}

Affordable Lipstick?! My Favorite ColourPop Shades | London Fog

This is my go-to red in the Ultra Satin formula. This classic red lipstick isn’t quite as bold as Creeper and because it’s the satin formula, I find it easier to swipe on when I’m applying lipstick at a stoplight on the go.  I find myself pulling this out a lot during the winter months since it’s such a great shade of red and I don’t have to worry about it drying out my already dry lips.

If you’re looking for a matte lipstick that pops without being “too loud,” I’d recommend this shade. The pink undertone in the red softens it up a bit. The pink-red shade screams feminine while still being a great power lipstick. And yes, it’s still red enough to make your pearly whites look super white.
