Colorescience Beauty On the Go Palette Review + 5 Swatches

July 26, 2017

We’re talking beauty today, y’all!  I’ve been using this Colorescience Beauty on the Go palette since the beginning of July and wanted to share my thoughts.  And before we get started let me just geek out about a full circle moment that we’re sharing.

I started What Nicole Wore {almost 2 1/2 years ago}, because of the lack of diversity I noticed in blogging.  It’s no secret around these parts that I’m a HUGE lipstick lover, but I’ve definitely ordered shades before only for them to look completely different on me than pictured.  While it’s a first world problem, I’m always frustrated when there’s a new beauty product I want to try but the swatches are all shown on white models with similar skin tones.

That’s why I’m so excited today to share a review of the Colorescience Beauty on the Go palette and tell you my thoughts of how the product worked on my skin tone!

Colorescience Beauty on the Go Palette Review | My Favorite Shade:

Let’s start with the shade from this palette that I’m loving.  Champagne Shimmer has changed my face.  Previously, I wasn’t huge on highlighter; I used BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector and only wore it for special occasions.  While the liquid highlighter worked, I didn’t really feel like it enhanced my face.  My friend, Katie, kept telling me to try a pressed highlighter, so I was excited when I saw a highlight shade in this Colorescience palette.

This shade is easy to build: you can do just a hint of highlight or really have a glow.  While buildable, the shade also can be blended into the skin if overdone.  I apply with a flat brush to the tops of my cheeks, center of nose and Cupid’s Bow.  {Check out that right above the lip glow in the photo above!}  Best of all, Champagne Shimmer pairs well with the blush that I wear during the summer.  I really feel like I’ve mastered the perfect summer glow for my darker skin tone.

Colorescience Beauty on the Go Palette Review | The Packaging:

As mentioned before, I’m frequently running late and prefer that my everyday makeup can fit in my cosmetic bag.  This palette can be slipped inside without a problem but could also fit inside a clutch for an event or evening out.  Like most palettes, the top features a mirror that can be used for application or touch ups as well as a small brush.

Always running late? I have the perfect beauty palette for you! Click To Tweet

Colorescience Beauty on the Go Palette Review | Swatches

If you follow along via my Instagram story, you already know my big knock on this palette.  Colorescience markets the Beauty on the Go palette as one that can “flatter any skin tone” and be used on “face, eyes, lips and cheeks.”  The only shade that I immediately wanted to use on my face is the Champagne Shimmer.  While the three bottom shades could be used on my eyes, this palette isn’t a use all over your face for me.  As you can see, Neutral Apricot almost appears chalky when applied to my skin.  While most palettes tend to include a comparable shade, it’s always one that I avoid using.

Colorescience Beauty on the Go Palette Review | Final Thoughts.

I’d give this palette a 3.5/5 rating.  The shadows are pigmented and creamy which I really like for an eyeshadow.  Like I mentioned, the highlighter shade has been something that I’ve reached for every time that I’ve put on makeup this month.  The darker colors in the palette are great for fall, but also super common shades.  If you already own a palette, chances are that you have a similar color.  If you don’t own a beauty palette, this one is an affordable option that features a kick butt highlighter and great crease colors.
