Just Throw it in the Bag: Trendlee Chloé Tote Review

There comes a time when you’ll choose to purchase investment pieces.  For me, I always do a ton of research beforehand.  Factors that help me decide on these purchases are: quality, versatility, and functionality as well as price.  Recently, I test drove a bag from Trendlee, a designer handbag resell service & today I have a Chloé tote review on the Chloé Alison East West Tote.

Chloé Tote Review | What’s the Skinny on Trendlee & the Bag?

So, as I mentioned above, Trendlee sells preowned, luxury handbags.  They carry all different styles and brands and offer prices that are way under retail.  While I have always dreamed of purchasing my own designer bag, I’ve also always believed that it would be preowned so that I could take advantage of the depreciation.  Every bag that Trendlee sells comes with an authentication certificate and guarantee — so important when buying a preloved bag.

This Chloé tote caught my eye with the calf hair insert; I’ve loved my calf hair clutch and figured this tote would be fun to carry.  While carrying this downtown, I quickly remembered why satchel style totes aren’t my typical go-to.  The lack of shoulder strap means that if you’re carrying anything of substance that your wrist gets tired really quickly.  If you choose a bag like this, I’d highly recommend investing in an acrylic base shaper to ensure that the bottom of the bag doesn’t get slouchy.

While I carried the bag, I set my leather day planner in the bottom to help the bag keep its structure.  So what did I like?  Everything I needed fit in this bag!  The tote features a zipper top and I loved the angled sides.  While I carried this bag, I received so many compliments and I loved that the tote went with so much of my wardrobe.  For me if I splurge on a bag, I want to know I’ll be able to carry it frequently.  On that standard, this wouldn’t be my first designer handbag splurge as the functionality is limited with how much I carry in my work bag.

Wondering what I carried?  A little more than just the essentials, if we’re being honest:

  • S’well Bottle | Lately, I’ve been working on drinking more water.  Admittedly, this is a pretty lofty, personal goal as I’m the FIRST person to opt for juice or soda over water.  However, for me, this is one of the easiest ways to improve my health and how I feel daily so I’ve been trying to get through 3-4 of these bottles a day.  The S’well became one of my holy grail products after I was gifted one and realized that it actually does keep things cold for 48 hours.  In fact, I was so impressed by mine that I ordered one for my mom last Christmas.  The bottles come in a huge variety of colors and prints and are on MAJOR sale right now!
  • Vera Bradley Leather Agenda | Let’s call it growing up, but last year I opted for a leather day planner. Traditionally, I had gone for the Lilly Pulitzer or Kate Spade every year, but I’m so glad I changed things up.  Instead of purchasing a new planner every year, I just buy a new insert from an office supply store.  The larger size is also a major plus in my book since I need to keep track of blog, school, volunteer, and personal commitments.

  • Amazon Kindle Paperwhite | My ride or die.  If you ask what I’m doing on most weekends, I’m reading.  Totally get that pleasure reading isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but curling up with a good read is my favorite de-stresser.  This isn’t the newest model, but is super lightweight, has wi-fi capability, and has survived being lost on a Southwest flight — oops!

  • Ray-Ban Clubmaster Sunglasses | Somehow I’ve become somewhat of a sunglass hoarder.  Ray-Ban’s cases are so great for throwing in your purse because they don’t take up too much space.
  • Coach Mini Skinny ID Case | One of my best friends from middle school, Emily, gifted this to me years ago!  I’ve used this as a wallet, coin purse, key ring, etc.  Lately though, it’s been super useful to keep my business cards in.  I can fit about twenty in and the case is super small if I’m carrying a clutch to an event.
  • Kate Spade Lacey Wallet | I’ve been carrying this wallet for about five years now.  Full size wallets are my favorite; I really like keeping all bills flat.
  • Ankit Noise Cancelling Headphones | While I don’t like these for the gym, they’re so great for the rest of my day to day activities.  I frequently carry my MacBook with me when I’m on the go & like that I can plug in these headphones and tune out distractions.
  • Vera Bradley Medium Cosmetic | Finally, this cosmetic bag gets tossed into my purse way more than I like to admit.  It’s just the right size for me to throw my ‘everyday face’ essentials into as I run out the door.  Sometimes I also carry the small size for jewelry if I’m keeping track of different pieces for a shoot.

    Super cute bag, Nicole! I also need a bag that I can throw everything in! MY kids are still young so I need to carry things such as baby wipes and snacks and drinks and always need an Epipen for my littlest! The challenge is keeping it cute without being too overstuffed!
