vera bradley umbrella {sold out in this print} + hm sunglasses + midnight girls tassel necklace via living social + target girls dress {similar in women’s size} + versona bracelet + target style wedges {old, similar on sale}

Let me start by saying that I hate flamingos when we’re talking about the tacky yard decoration. But the print is great. I’ve tried to refrain from buying all the flamingo things this summer because I can’t see myself wearing them past the season but this dress jumped out at me while I was at Target last week.

What Nicole Wore: Flamingo Bingo

While I was blessed with a booty, I’m not so blessed in the chest region. As I pulled on this dress from the girl’s section of Target, I once again realized my small chest is good for lots of reasons.

For those of you wondering about sizing, I’m 5’4 and wearing the large. The XL was closer to the knee and really the length I prefer but I could not stand the extra fabric under the armpits.

Are you loving flamingos this season? It seems like they just can’t be avoided. Currently crushing on: this phone case, this pretty tank (on sale) that would look fab tucked into a skirt or with skinny jeans, this gorgeous bikini set is calling to me even though I already have a flamingo bikini (oops), and don’t even get me started on how cute this one piece suit is (and currently on sale).

Happy Monday!

Casual Ballpark Outfit for 4th of July

July 3, 2015

Tomorrow’s the 4th of July and one of my favorite things to do is go out to the ballpark.  Louisville Slugger Field can be a lot of fun and I loved watching fireworks from Nationals Park in Washington DC while I lived there.  Sharing a very casual 4th of July inspired outfit that’s easy to recreate with pieces in most closets and makes the perfect ballpark outfit.

I know lots of you probably love a good red, white and blue outfit for the first week of July. While I’m all about the patriotism, blue is one of my favorite colors to wear and my Kentucky loving ways mean I’m always down to rock some blue and white.

Rounding up the theme of things I typically do to celebrate the 4th, today’s outfit is what I might wear to a family barbecue. My grandfather always wanted to get together for the 4th and this year is kind of bittersweet with it being the first year he’s not here to pull us all together for collard greens and ribs.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this Longchamp bag is a “do it all” type and was a great thrift find. This space has been a work in progress since it started, and I’m finally starting to feel comfortable with my little corner of the internet.

Each Thursday, you can expect one item in my outfit post to feature one thrifted item as a way of celebrating #ThriftThursday. Did you catch my feature on Fashion of Goodwill last Friday? You can check it out here.

I can’t believe that June’s over and the 4th is this weekend! The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays and I thought I’d wrap up this week by sharing three different outfits you might catch me in and three different ways I like to celebrate.

This year I’m actually working on the 4th, so you won’t catch me out on the town for the evening, but here’s what I’d wear for that occasion.

target style loafers {old, similar}

It was pretty much love at first sight when I saw this skirt at work. The laser-cut detailing really drew me in and believe it or not — I did not own a solid navy skirt prior to this purchase. I have so many visions on how to wear this, but for a July night out to dinner and the bars, I’d keep things light.

What Nicole Wore: 4th Night Out
This scarf is really lightweight which means it’s not too hot and stifling and also that it’s super easy to stuff into a bag if I start to feel overheated with it on.

Nights out for me typically mean minimal jewelry — less to get tangled with or worry about. I loveeeeeee the Kendra Scott Elisa necklace in druzy and am so happy I got another one in my latest Rocksbox. If you want to try out the service for free, enter whatnicoleworexoxo after taking the style quiz and your first month will be free of charge.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow and see my family bbq look 🙂

xo, Nicole

Wedding Ready with Rent the Runway

June 29, 2015

While I was in Chicago, I got to visit the new Rent the Runway store. Rent the Runway is a rental company that allows you to rent designer dresses, separates and accessories for events. They have two stores in New York City as well as stores in Washington D.C., Las Vegas and the newest store, Chicago.

browsing at RTR x Chicago
I really hadn’t decided what kind of dress I wanted to wear; I knew the ceremony was in a church and the reception would be outdoor, which in Kentucky during the month of June could really mean anything.

my first and final choice! (ignore my mismatched socks)
I danced around the store before ultimately settling into the more casual side of the store. I pulled a couple dresses before ruling out the mostly white and anything black or too sparkly; I didn’t want to wear anything that would be too loud or draw attention from the wedding.

Michelle was with me so we had a casual debate about the small side cutouts and whether or not they were inappropriate before we decided they weren’t. The dressing rooms are super cool — the mirrors allow you to change the lighting in the room so you can see how you’ll look in fluorescent and outdoor lighting.

tahari scallop flats {sold out, similar (on sale)} + milly dress (on sale) via rent the runway + kate spade clutch {similar} + nail polish (on sale)
I’m the worst fashionista ever — I hate any shoe with a heel. My feet are babies and I treat them as such. I debated on wedges with this outfit before pulling on my black scalloped flats. Cute, comfortable and I was never the girl with her shoes off at the wedding.

Wanting a small purse, I took the strap off my kate spade juliana and carried it as a handheld clutch.

eye shadow + mascara + blush (on sale) + foundation + eyebrows + ashiana london necklace c/o rocksbox {similar} + milly dress (on sale) via rent the runway + watch {similar} + kate spade clutch (similar) + iPhone 6 case
My dress got to me Wednesday afternoon which gave me time to try it on and see what items I may want to pair with it and I stuck it back in the mail using the pre-paid label on Monday. I would highly recommend Rent the Runway as a way to change up your wardrobe for weddings you attend, graduations, parties, family events, proms, etc. The company is easy to use and has a wide variety of options to choose from.
