GlamourTine’s Day

February 12, 2016

Y’all, what a week! I started a new job, tried to get back onto EST {still not there #hatemyself}, forgot about the sorority meeting I was advising {#hatemyself part 2}, and froze my tail off taking these pictures. Being such a crazy week, actual blogging got a little left behind, but I’m super excited about some of the things coming soon to What Nicole Wore!

P.S. wanna stay in the loop? Go give my Facebook page a like! 🙂

What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day
shop the post: prada sunglasses c/o shop ditto {use code whatnicolewore to try a month of designer sunglass rentals for free!} + red plaid shirt {old, similar | also seen here} + j crew factory sequin tee {thrift find | also seen here} + black linen-cotton mini skirt c/o thredUP {on sale in different colors} + patterned tights + cognac riding boots {nordstrom rack find, similar on sale | also seen here} + michael kors watch + nail polish + foundation + blush {my very favorite!} + mascara + setting spray
I’ve wanted one of these skirts for forever; they’re super cute and go with a lot since they come in all kinds of solid colors, but every time I’d order one, the sizing would be way off and the skirt would look horrible on me.  I ordered this one {brand new with tags for just $11.99!} from ThredUP and figured if it didn’t work, I could send it back and use the credit towards something else, but sizing way down turned out to be the way to go. I love the elastic waist on these skirts and know I’ll get a ton of wear out of them.

ThredUP is an online consignment store that buys and sells gently used and brand new items. You can request a bag from them, fill it up with your no longer wanted items and send it in where they’ll evaluate each piece before giving you a total. Buying from them is super easy and something I had actually done before they reached out to me.  Want to try it out? Sign up here and you’ll get a $10 credit to start your shopping with, no strings attached!
What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day

I wanted to wear something super festive to kick off Valentine’s Day, so I grabbed my trusty sequin tee from J. Crew Factory, another awesome thrift find, and pulled it over my favorite red plaid button down.  What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day

I wanted to play around with texture and pattern so I paired my skirt with these grid print tights that I grabbed on super clearance from Old Navy {only 1.97} , my riding boots and my favorite watch. Lack of sleep led me to reach towards my statement sunglasses.
What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day

The bags under my eyes are never designer, but the good news is my sunglasses are! 😉 Have you heard of Shop Ditto? Think Netflix, just with designer eyewear. For $24 a month, you can swap out designer sunglasses as frequently as you wish from brands like Ray Ban, Dolce & Gabbana, Karen Walker, Dior, Prada and more. Ditto also has rental plans if you want to do prescription sunglasses or glasses too.

This is my first pair and I’m in love; you can try a free month with code WHATNICOLEWORE right now with the option to cancel at any time.  Now if I could just decide which pair to put next on my wish list.
What Nicole Wore: GlamourTine's Day

I hope however you may celebrate Valentine’s Day, with family, friends or a significant other, that you know how loved you are (and indulge in sweet treats!)

All About That Lace

February 8, 2016

How was your Super Bowl weekend? As many times as I’ve tried, I’m just not a football kind of girl {which is pretty much a crime around these parts but whatever}.  I did catch the Warriors-Thunder game which was just as insane as it was billed and managed to eat alllllll the snacks during the Puppy Bowl so overall, I’d call this weekend a success.

What Nicole Wore: All About That Lace
shop the post: hm blush blouse with black lace {dress worn as top, old| also seen here} + black skinny jeans + nude lace up flats {sold out, similar | also seen here} + gold tassel necklace {also seen here} + ring c/o the peach box {sold out, love this option!} + fitbit one + nail polish + eyebrows + foundation + blush + highlighter + mascara + matte lip + bronzer {I used this blender damp to blend my bronzer and highlighter}
This blush shift dress with black lace is an oldie but goodie in my closet that I grabbed off a sale rack a few years ago. Here are some current blush favorites:

What Nicole Wore: All About That Lace

I’m wearing another ColourPop liquid lipstick because they are everythinggggg. Their colors are super pigmented and look different on just about every skin tone, but I love wearing Beeper for those Kylie Jenner vibes. Speaking of which, I missed snagging a lip kit again on Friday – ugh. One day, I’ll get there I swear. What Nicole Wore: All About That Lace

I’m still majorly crushing on this color from OPI’s newest collection; their polish names are always so entertaining to me and so it’s no surprise that this New Orleans themed collection really nails it (pun intended). I love red nails, but only had one “go to” bottle, so I ordered this one and love the red creme.

My nude lace ups seemed like the perfect shoes to complete this look; I love the way these neutrals come together especially with the gold tassel necklace.  What Nicole Wore: All About That Lace

Loving Him Was Red

February 5, 2016

I got home Wednesday and am still struggling with getting used to the time change; who knew a three hour difference would lead to jet lag? I’m also getting used to the cold #wompwomp While I was taking these pictures it was flurrying, but I stayed strong and stuck things out (and then went inside, drank tea and took a nap.)

What Nicole Wore: Loving Him was Red
shop the post: red sweater via ny and company outlet {old, similar | also seen here} + navy and white striped vest via shop adorabelles {also seen here} + blue skinny jeans + white rose necklace via groopdealz {under $20} + camp socks {all three colors on sale for under $10} + plaid fleece lined duck boots {$40 off right now, also available in black plaid} + gold ring + nail polish {from the newest OPI collection!} + foundation + bronzer + highlighter + blush + blender + matte lipstick + mascara + eye shadow + setting spray + eyebrow filler

What Nicole Wore: Loving Him was Red

Guys, these are the boots. Remember my story about wearing my Hunters in the snow/living a life filled with regret? I ended up borrowing my mom’s snow boots during the last big snow storm when I did some shoveling and quickly realized that hello I needed a pair to survive winter. {Which apparently is now going to be hella short? Thanks Punxsutawney Phil!} These are fleece lined { -praise hands emoji- }, keep my feet warm and are super cute so it’s pretty much a win-win-win.

I typically wear an 8.5, but sized up to a 9 in these after reading reviews and find that they fit comfortably. What Nicole Wore: Loving Him was Red

I’m loving these ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks – they’re super easy to apply, dry quickly and extremely pigmented. I just ordered a couple different colors as well as a full size of Beeper and am so in love with the new colors they released yesterday as part of their collaboration with Karrueche Tran. The best part is that they’re just $6!

I picked up these socks a couple weeks ago; they’re still on sale for less than $10, super thick and help with keeping my feet warm. I grabbed the blue since I thought they’d go the best with my wardrobe but they also come in marled black and red. All three colors feature metallic threading around the toes and heels.  What Nicole Wore: Loving Him was Red

I’m definitely leaning towards girly cuts and colors with Valentine’s Day around the corner, but paired my red sweater with a navy and white striped puffer vest plus my white floral necklace from a couple seasons ago. I love the way that the white roses really standout against the red.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Pretty in Pink

February 1, 2016

I’ve told you guys before how much I hate winter; my opinion hasn’t changed, but I will say that snow is at least pretty.

It’s also hella cold, so yes this was the first snow of the season and yes I’m already one hundred percent over all things winter, below freezing, snow covered, etc.

What Nicole Wore: Pretty in Pink
shop the post: pink lapel coat with pockets c/o shein {on sale for $25!} + turquoise plaid shirt via francesca’s {similar | also seen here} + cable knit sweater {also seen here} + blue skinny jeans {over cold gear leggings} + boot socks c/o modern and chic boutique {also seen here} + hunter boots + foundation + highlighter + eyebrow filler + mascara + blush + eye shadow + bronzer + nail polish + liquid lipstick {in macbeth}

What Nicole Wore: Pretty in PinkWhile taking these pictures, I realized that I desperately need to pick up some Hunter socks since regular socks just aren’t warm enough with the snow.

What Nicole Wore: Pretty in PinkI thought this navy and teal flannel was perfect to go with my light pink coat with the small pink stripe that’s in the plaid. To stay warm, I pulled layered my favorite cable knit sweater over the plaid.

What Nicole Wore: Pretty in Pink I love the longer length and cape like collar of this coat from SheIn, the first thing that pulled me in about it was the gorgeous color. I’m not usually a huge pink person but love sporting brights and pastels during the cold, dark and dreary months.

Thank you to SheIn for sponsoring this post. I always appreciate being able to work with brands to develop new content for What Nicole Wore. As always, all opinions are my own.
