Colorescience Beauty On the Go Palette Review + 5 Swatches

July 26, 2017

We’re talking beauty today, y’all!  I’ve been using this Colorescience Beauty on the Go palette since the beginning of July and wanted to share my thoughts.  And before we get started let me just geek out about a full circle moment that we’re sharing.

I started What Nicole Wore {almost 2 1/2 years ago}, because of the lack of diversity I noticed in blogging.  It’s no secret around these parts that I’m a HUGE lipstick lover, but I’ve definitely ordered shades before only for them to look completely different on me than pictured.  While it’s a first world problem, I’m always frustrated when there’s a new beauty product I want to try but the swatches are all shown on white models with similar skin tones.

That’s why I’m so excited today to share a review of the Colorescience Beauty on the Go palette and tell you my thoughts of how the product worked on my skin tone!

Anthony Vince Spa Review + Dip Nails: the Good, Bad & Ugly

July 6, 2017

While I don’t consider myself super high maintenance one of my favorite ways to treat myself is a mani pedi.  A couple weeks ago I headed to the Anthony Vince Spa location in Springhurst Towne Center for some much needed me time.

Most of you know, but I used to work retail which meant I was constantly on my feet and used my hands a lot.  Typically, I would get a pedicure every month and get a manicure then to clean up my cuticles.  Since I’m not in retail anymore, I hadn’t been to get my nails done since December!  Keep reading for more about Anthony Vince Spa, my thoughts on dip powder nails, plus the products I use to keep up with my nails between spa visits.

Summer Makeup Routine

June 26, 2017

Summer in Kentucky consists of a lot of humidity and sweating which means that when the heart of summer arrives, I typically need to adjust my summer makeup routine.  Today I’m sharing the beauty products that I use in my summer makeup routine to create a face that won’t melt away at the first sign of humidity.  Over the past couple of years, my skin has cleared up a ton and I’m able to wear light makeup instead of feeling like I have to cover acne scars and blemishes.

Summertime in the South calls for revamping your makeup routine. Kentucky blogger, What Nicole Wore, shares her favorite products for surviving the humidity and keeping her face fresh.

Packing Up Spring Beauty Favorites with Vera Bradley

March 15, 2017

In the spirit of spring break, today I’m sharing some spring beauty favorites and how to pack them up with Vera Bradley.  I’ve been using Vera’s cosmetic bags for years now; my typical go to is the Medium Cosmetic!  I got a change to try out a newer style, the Travel Cosmetic Set, which now comes in seven colors.

Spring Beauty Favorites

With as many lipsticks as I have, keeping them organized is really important.  This acrylic makeup organizer has pull out drawers and you can purchase more of the drawers as your makeup stash grows.  I have a couple drawers for lipsticks and use the rest for palettes and blushes.  One drawer also acts as a home to my samples and travel size goodies.

This part of the cosmetic set features a magnetic snap closure and eight different sized elastic bands to hold brushes.  As you can see, I use mine for brushes as well as tubes of liquid lipstick and eyeliner.  The lining can be wiped down with a rag or wipe so you don’t have to worry about makeup getting all over.

Spring Beauty Favorites | The fail – LimeCrime Velvetines lipsticks

When it comes to liquid lipsticks, I tend to switch between ColourPop and Kylie’s lip kits.  I like Kylie’s mattes better because I think they last the longest, but ColourPop has a much wider variety of colors and I love their satin formula.  I recently decided to try some of LimeCrime’s mattes; the Velvetine lipsticks are incredibly pigmented but wear quickly and don’t have much lasting power.  The darker shades I ordered were patchy when applied and started wearing pretty quickly which was a huge bummer.  While the lipstick’s sell for $20, shipping is not free for domestic purchases under $50 and I feel like I could get a better product for comparable pricing if not cheaper.  Can’t say I’ll be buying anymore LimeCrime lipsticks.
