12 Days of Blogmas: Velvet Swing Dress

December 8, 2016

Today’s #Blogmas post combines one of my favorite colors, navy, with one of the season’s biggest trends: velvet.  I love that the pattern features gold swirls to add a festive touch to this swing dress.

12 Days of Blogmas: Velvet Swing Dress
featured in this post: navy velvet dress {ON SALE, UNDER $65} + white blazer {ON SALE, 25% OFF $100} + chevron tights {old, similar} + wanted shoes: naash boots c/o {UNDER $75} + leather flap crossbody {also available in black, budget friendly option} + vera bradley: iPhone 7 glitter case c/o {ON SALE, 30% OFF} + charming charlie: parthenon ring c/o + black double druzy ring + tortoise sunglasses + highlighter + blush + matte lipstick {in gorg} + nail polish

IN THIS POST:

As soon as I tried this dress on, I knew I had to have it!  I love navy and gold together and I love that this velvet frock is a subtle nod to the many velvet dresses my mom picked out for my childhood holidays.  I’m wearing the XS here and it’s fitted around the arms {no awkward, large armpit gaps} but flows loosely so that I don’t have to avoid the Christmas cookies.  The tank features snaps to keep your bra straps in place and tucked away, which I’m always appreciative of.

Since it’s been drastically cooler lately, I broke out a pair of tights to go with it.  Every year, I try to stock up on black tights at the end of the season since I tend to go through them so quickly.  I love this chevron pair for an unexpected twist on a classic winter staple.  These ones allow for slight pattern play between the dress and tights without being overwhelming or taking away from the outfit.  To brighten the look up, I covered my arms up with a winter white blazer.  I’d been looking for a white blazer for awhile and finally found this one from Express; I love that I’m able to pair it with some of the darker pieces I typically wear throughout fall and winter to make things lighter and brighter, but still seasonally appropriate.

Thank you to Charming Charlie, Wanted Shoes and Vera Bradley for partnering with me on this post.  All opinions shared are my own.
